One of the BBS members, my good pal Jamie Thomas (Subie Gal) is competing in the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb tomorrow, in Colorado Springs. Pikes Peak is the 2nd oldest motorsport event in the USA and is the world renowned “race to the clouds”.

Jamie has been driving all year in SCCA Club and Pro Rallies in a home prepared Impreza 1.8L FWD production class car, she is currently is the highest placed female in US rallying, lying 3rd in the production class in the Pro Rally series and 2nd in the Club rally series, this is her first year in stage rallying, the past two years she competed in TSD rallies, which I co-drove for her on a few occasions.

Jamie was contacted by a private Japanese entrant who wanted to run a Subaru Pleo in this famous hillclimb, it’s a 660cc supercharged microcar that is sold on the Japanese domestic market, good for about 60 BHP.

This week has been spent doing tech inspection, some practice runs and qualifying yesterday. Today is a day off for her so she’ll be spending the day snapping pictures of the invitation pro-rally runners plus doing final preps for the race tomorrow.

Jamie is having a fantastic time so far, Pikes Peak is one of my favourite motorsport events and to have my friend drive there is pretty special. The race starts at 9.30am local time, wish her luck!

Photo’s and a report will be on Jamies web site next week http://www.subiegal.com

Some shots of the car.

This is typical Jamie! LOL

EXHIBITION: While none of the exhibition vehicles are going to win any trophies, none of the drivers are having more fun.

"This whole week has been a blast,'' said Jamie Thomas who has taken a lot of kidding from her fellow drivers who have even nicknamed her 60-horsepower 2001 Subaru Pleo the "Toaster.''

"Hey,'' Thomas protested, "I got it up to 70 mph once this week, but that was going downhill.''
the official event web site is http://www.ppihc.com

as soon as there are some shots available from the race, i'll post them here. Should be fun!
