Default places to visit in Boston / Detroit?

Going over there for work for a while and looking for places of interest worth seeing in my spare time.

Any good ideas?

Boston is beautiful Gary.

Old lady lives on my street, her daughter lives there and was showing us photo's - looks a cracking place with a nice mix of everything.

Detroit?? Dunno gangster, just make sure you stay on the correct side of da 8 mile road or you might find people trying to bussa cap in yo' ***.

Boston is probably the best location I've visited in the US. People are friendly, atmosphere is great and I suppose you'll want to do the touristy gig by visiting the bar where Cheers was filmed It's usually packed but it's one of those things you have to do...much smaller than you think though. Mass. Avenue is bustling and you'll most likely end up eating clam chowder. Plenty of Irish bars to choose from as well. I only had a week there for work but had a ball in the evenings and I'd love to go back on my own time.

Almost forgot -- should you encounter Samuel Adams, would you give him my very best regards

Gary

I moved to just outside Boston last year and am loving it!

People are great, loads to do,

Definately recommend one of the following, depending on taste and mood.

The Duck bus tour

Whale Watching.

Going to watch the red sox at fenway(another important point, DO NOT BRING ANY CLOTHING OR HATS WITH THE NY DESIGN. you won't just get sh*t from people in bars, but also just walking down the street!

Fenway Park where the sox play is right by Landsdowne street. The best place for clubs and bars, although Faniel hall is also quality. Women are awesome, and as you know LOVE the accent!

And last but not least if you fancy shopping due to the Exchange rate at the minute the place to be is Newbury street. Top quality stuff.

PM me if you would like anymore specific info I checked google for everything above so you should be able to find info on all of it.

You've sold it to me though mate.

I'm more than likely going next year. After a thoroughly enjoyable trip to Toronto I'm liking North American cities.

I was in Boston for a few days - weather was rubbish and I did not think there was that much to do. There is a nice town centre, you can have a look round the Harvard campus and there is an aquarium. I also did the whale spotting and we did actually see one eventually quite close up but my bollox still shrivel at the thought of how cold it was on the boat

It seemed very quiet - people just going about their everyday business really - I was in Manhattan and Long Island next and thought it was much better to be honest, lots more to see.
