Is this true about the ring?

Is this true about the ring?
I heard today that the nuburgring is actually classed as a toll road and you can run into public traffic around part of it.
Is this true?!
Dave
I also heard that the m6 toll road has no speed limit, which I find hard to beleve!

Just read up on the ring, i had a picture in my mind of meeting some old woman on the way to the supermarket going round the carousel, I see that's not the case though

As a regular to the ring, I can honestly say that I have seen it all.
Coach loads of tourists and delivery vans are an everyday thing! After all, it's a tourist area, my auntie Mavis who is 80 odd said that she went round it on a bus in the 80s!!!
Check out our website for some pics and stuff Northloop

Would never happen in the UK, they need to make money in fines to line the Police Chief's pockets.
Besides, if the Ring was in England, it would have been "banned" by now.

If the M6 toll is speed limit free then why, whe I was last going Sth bound, did I have to haul on my brakes when I saw a man in a white landrover, pointing something nasty at me?
They must have been very bored - there must have been some 50 cars on its entire length when I went through.
Perhaps they were too scared to drive amongst the appaulingly bad drivers I had earlier avoided on the Cheshire M6 section?
Nick

BTW - just because the Nurburgring is classed as a public toll road does not mean that your insurance is valid.
There are a number of companies out there that have a clause that prohibts the use of your policy on a "derestricted delimited public toll road" - ie the ring. It must also be pointed out that as it is a public road, it is illegal to drive on it without insurance (not like track days where you can choose to take the risk).

The auobahn is not a toll road, so you will be OK. The insurance companies for some reason do not want to ban the ring by name, so that is why they insert that into your policy. Afaik the ring is the only derestricted delimited public toll road in Europe.
Also, the police do not chase you. They wait at the barriers at the start and finish of the track for random checks. They also check you out if you crash.

If your insurance company has this exclusion then, provided you have the ***** to argue it, it is not a problem.
The 'Ring is no longer entirely derestricted and unlimited. There are speed limits on Dottinger Hohe as you approach the exit lane (after the gantry) and there are temporary limits after Wehrseifen on the drop to Breidscheid when the Breidsheid exit/entry is open.
The second limits are enforced quite strictly, often by a Politzist with a radar gun and a notebook standing just behind the armco. You just get met at the exit barrier and given the ticket (and a very polite, efficient German bollocking) without any further ado...
