Film "Open Water"
Just finished watching on Sky Box office - and one of the most disturbing films I've seen for a long long time. Doesnt make for pleasant viewing.
In short, based on a true story of a young couple who accidently get left behind in the midst of the ocean by the boat following a diving trip.....I seem to remember it was in the news a while ago.
Won't say too much more, to save ruining it for anyone else.
The worst non-horror, horror I've seen i think.
Neil

what I found most intruiging about this film, was that considering they both got abandoned, one scoffed by sharks, and the other losing the will to live, how did they gather enough info to base a film on a "true" story.
was the screenplay written by a haddock that happened to be in the area at the time?

As I said - "Won't say too much more, to save ruining it for anyone else." but hey....
Yes, I'm sure alot of it was guess work, but as the coast guard found various items of their dive gear washed up on a beach several months later along with a divers slater asking for help, I guess the majority of the story is pretty much spot on.
Appalling way to go

I sat and watched this film when it first came out, my boyfriend gave up after about 5 mins of it. I enjured the lot thinkin, secretly hoping, it might jus get a bit gruesome or at least semi interesting. Have to admit it was non of the above, jus plain and utter cr@p!!!!!

We watched that film in Australia while in Cairns late last year....
Perhaps not the best thing when you've just booked to go diving in the Coral Sea a few days later.... the best bit though, we done a shark feed!!!

Saw this film a few weeks ago. I found it boring, the ending predictable but I kept watching expecting / hoping something would happen that would grab my imagination.
Sadly it didn't and I lost two hours of my life that could have been spent doing something constructive. The film is neither entertaining nor particularly memorable.

Better movie would have been......start the film at the nude scene.....send them diving......leave them stranded for 7 mins then get them eaten by a Great White (as opposed to being nibbled to death by sharks that looked as scary as a large trout)

The scariest bit about the film was the research that it provoked me to do. Apparently divers being abandoned isn't/wasn't all that uncommon. Most people are missed much more quickly though.
An interesting fact about the film is that the scenes were actually filmed in the sea and that the sharks were real. Wished I'd known that before I watched it. Maybe it would have been less disappointing.

Two divers upright in the water with tanks and suits on (in clear water) dont look like seals....even to a blind shark! and i'd be surprised if seal was the main diet of those sharks!

sharks will eat anything...dont believe any 'experts' that tell you otherwise...
i read an article once about a diver who was attacked by a shark, and all the experts said he shouldve curled up in a ball and remained still...his answer 'im sure that a 5 ton shark would completely ignore a floating chunk of meat'...im sure he was a little more
s(h)arky...!
