Question Need to write out my income/expenditure for accountant...anyone advise?

I started out as a sole trader last october. I went to sort out an accountant to advise on how to go about it etc.
However, being last minute etc, i recieved a letter from them today to say that the tax forms are due soon etc and can i send my records of income/expenditure etc to them so they can sort it for me.

As from last october, i have roughly noted all income, and also listed down the expenditures (dated) and kept all reciepts.

What i would like to know is what is the best way to write this all down for the accountant? I would ring them monday, but want to do it tomorrow ideally as i am very busy during the week.

Is it as simple as a sheet with coloumns for Date, description, income, expenditure etc or am i going along the wrong track?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ian

That will suffice, I guess. As long as you record everything, your accountant should be able to sort it out.

separate income and expenditure use cheque receipts etc for expenditure and invoices for income best not to mix the two

Cool

thanks for the advice

i have done the records etc today, and did them seperate as you say, cos it was looking a bit more readable rather than all together.

My dad has his own business (and has done for the past 17 years), if you're still unsure, I'll get him to advise you on here if you want

I am currently the treasurer for a sports club and use a method to do ours which is easy to follow.

Its difficult to explain on here, but i did a similar one for my works tea fund (a bit over the top - but it kept it right)

Let me know your e-mail address and i can send you an example
