He's a trailer trash product of low life America. However that doesn't mean he's terrible per say. I acknowledge the brilliance of him and his producers in sampling Labi Siffre's "I got the" break along with the wu-tangs et al.
So a spent force creatively going on current form but nevertheless important enough to count as not in bad taste. All IMHO.

as a rule, I don't like rap...let's face it- 3/4 of all crap is rap 
But I kinda like Eminem, at least he offers an alternative to the I'm a bigga gangsta (tm) than you/I've got more bitches/my ride is more bling than yours...or whatever the f*ck they sing about - the toy soldiers thing is an example.
so if I HAD to listen to a rapper, Eminem would be 1st choice.
He's not related to that barmpot artist Tracey Eminem is he?onder2:

I think Eminem's music is great, lyrics border on genius...and I think most rap is utter $hite.
I played my parents a couple of tracks. They were disgusted
I went through a spell of playing the Marshall Mathers LP over and over in the car. My wife said she hated it as the lyrics were derogatory to women, then came home early once and found she was playing it on the hi-fi
