Anyone recommend any laser eye surgeons?
Ok I'm looking at:
1. Critical opinions of the surgery from anyones whose done it - I only ever seem to hear from ones where it has been positive (anyone got any negatives)
2. On the basis that I do it where should I go? - say in the London vicinity - obviously cost is not a factor
I do get amazed by the likes of Ultralases interest free types deals and low prices - I mean - this is your EYES not some car modification!!

I had been 'umming and aarring' about laser treatment for a few years now but still wasn't convinced about it. Recently, I bumped into a friend I hadn't seen for years and he mentioned that he'd had surgery at 'Optimax'. I have since found out that a number of colleagues at work have also had it done with no problems whatsoever even at night. My brother told me about this offer on Ebay so I decided to go for it.
I specifically wanted the Lasik surgery as the recovery is quicker and it is less painful apparently. However, at my consultation due to a couple of problems with my eyes (left cornea too thin and irregular astigmatism in both eyes) the surgeon suggested that he would only carry out the Epi-Lasek surgery, with a 95% chance of driving standard vision (usually acheived by 7 days post op) but also a 20% chance of hazing problems caused by scar tissue due to my aforementioned problems.
On Thursday 17th March 2005, I had both eyes done and instantly noticed a significant improvement. With the Epi-Lasek procedure, you have to wear clear contact lenses for 3-5 days and when I had them removed on the Monday (4 days) my eyes were tested and both were driving standard. My eyes are still improving and the clinic say that this will continue for up to 3 months. There do not appear to have been any other problems as mentioned earlier, including night-time vision.
I have worn glasses since the age of 9 and from my personal experience I would wholeheartedly recommend having a consultation to check your suitability. I cannot put into words how great it feels to be able to see things without the aid of glasses.
Hope this info is useful.
Regards
Andy
By the way, my colleagues all had there surgery done at Ultralase and were equally happy with their results.

I had it done in Jan 97, called PRK at the time by ..... wait for it!... Optimax!
Car runs good on it too. They were in Manchester and Leeds, fully recommend it to anyone especially if you were like me -5.25 and -4.75. Believe they do something called Lasrek or something similar and is even better.
Just read the posting above...says it all really.

My wife went to Moorfields http://www.moorfields.org.uk/Home
and was seen by
Mr Julian Stevens
telephone: 020 7566 2699
Email: Angelique.singh@moorfields.nhs.uk
Who is reputed to be one of the best specialists in the UK.
3 years on and with perfect vision she still doesn't quite know how she plucked up the courage to do it, but she's very glad she did.
I got a lot of confidence from her going to THE eye hospital in the UK rather than a high street store!
Hope this helps
