Had the one on my Prelude done under insurance, but if I remember the price would have been £400-500. The Escort would probably be cheaper but a new one would still be about £250-300 for the job.
See if you can get a window from a scrappy then get someone to fit it??
paul.

A scrappy should help you out not probs - or a 2nd hand parts place.
Side window got smahed in my Merc - glass is glass - 2nd hand glass doesn't really have many issues!!
Mercedes wanted £200+, Autoglass wanted something similar, and the scrappy wanted £10. Came next day delivery.

A few years ago I needed a windscreen for a Porsche 968 Cabriolet; the dealer price at JCT was about £400 including my trade discount. The fitter got one, made by the same manufacturer, from a wholesaler, sameday, for £150..... This was a relatively expensive screen too with a radio antenna.
I advise you to find a good jobbing fitter and take it from there; either with a sensibly priced new screen or a re-usable one.

on a mainstream car like a 95 escort, I would be surprised if a new replacement cost over £100.
A second-hand screen could be had for pocket-change from most breakers, then just find someone to fit it for cash.

£140 fitted, apparently these screens are bonded ,so they are a bit dearer and more time consuming to fit(4 hours+/-).
That was the only thing it failed on.....its good to be a regular customer to these MOT guys....

Are you sure it wasn't 10 mins fitting, and 3hrs50mins drying
I remember I went to Autoglass for this side window for the Merc - guy told me it'd be DEAD expensive as Merc glass is thicker than normal - it may well be, but can't see that being an issue......
Hence why I got it from the scrappy for £15.

Depends if your escort has a quickclear (heated) front screen...in which case if it has it will cost more to replace.
Although it maybe a good omen.....
because most late Escorts (MK5 and MK6) have leaky front windscreens from the factory, which leak at the corners into either the fusebox (£250 to replace) or the engine ECU (£££).
I talk from experience
