Thumbs down Telegraph reports UK's net contrib to EU could be as much as £4.3 Billion this year!

This week the Telegraph reported that the UK's net contribution to the EU could be as much as 4.3 billion pounds for this year, even with the rebate, potentially making the UK the largest net contributor to the EU (21 March).

Hmmm... Anyone think of what else we could possibly use that sort of money for?

Despite having gained Tony Blair's support to undermine the services directive, Chirac then used the summit to call for an end to Britain's budget rebate, saying it was "no longer justified". Britain currently pays two and a half times more into the EU budget than France, and this figure would rise to 12 times more if the rebate was scrapped.

Strikes me as that could potentially add up to £20.6 Billion pounds a year - for the EU to dish out and claim all the thanks for... and we would have to beg for any of our own entitlement!

Aren't any of you concerned as to what the EU is doing to our country...?

Read 'Vote-No' website, there's alot of info that the government don't tell you on there! - http://www.vote-no.com/home/home.aspx

Wasn't it Clarkson whom pointed out whilst driving along some beautiful, smooth, brand new roads in Spain, which just happen to have been funded by the EU, that Spain takes out almost exactly to the penny what we put in. Being as it is now stated that the average Spaniard has a higher standard of living than the equivelent Brit, can we now redress this balance No! Thought so

They f*cked us from the moment that we joined; illegally alterering EU law in relation to fishing grounds. They knew we wouldnt fight it as we were so eager to join.

Surely; as a smaller and less affluent nation than Germany; our contribution should be smaller than theirs? Im in favour of being in the single market but Id rather not be bent over the market stall and f*cked up the **** by the French ffs!

Thats why so many car adverts are filmed there; its full of spectacular viaducts on mountain roads; all deserted. We paid for those.

Lets stop giving all our money to Spanish & French freeloaders and give our money to our true leaders, the Royal family.

I’m sure the need it with a wedding and coronation coming up soon – I know I can’t think of a more deserving cause (forget your hospitals and sick kids).

Small price to pay for Tony to be the first President of Europe, IMO. Think how happy that'll make him

I didnt need to Joe; it is an accepted fact, think about it. A President costs more than a monarch and as we own all of the palaces; we still have to pay for their upkeep; thats where most of the money goes in the first place. Ask the French and the Germans.....

Ok, I see, we own all the palaces etc so have to pay for their upkeep - that would seem fair

Except that

All the palaces (and a lot more besides) are owned by the crown (that's the royal mafia BTW) and we still pay for their upkeep!!!!
