Default am I being unreasonable?

Dear Scoobynet.

sorry about this, its really doing my nut in now.

Ive just won a pug 106 on ebay for £400, it was a bit more than I wanted to pay really, as its just going to be a cheap run about, until I get my new car.

I emailed the guy and said id like to pick it up tommorow as im off, ive got the cash here.

hes replied saying, well actually id like to use the car over the weekend, hows tuesday for you? (the auction ended yesterday midday)

im off until tuesday, so thats a weekend wasted as far as im concerned, plus hes putting more ware and tear and mileage on my car? i want to get it motd and ready to use. (it has mot and tax on it, but its going to need some tlc to get it through the mot)

ive e-mailed him back and said basically that, and that if he decides to use it over the weekend im not going to buy it.

am I being unreasonable?

your thoughts as always appreciated

hmm toughj one, it depends what he says in response.

your fair enough to say you want it now or never, as when the auction finishes + you pay it should be yours. wait and see what he says. its a good enough rteason to not want to buy it anyway

cheers mate, I just wanted someone to confirm what I was thinking

thing is ive agreed to buy it in that condition, but there was no pic, so if he stuffs it, he could say well it was like that and you agreed to buy it. not saying he would but that could happen. might say to him you can use it this weekend but I waant £100 knocking off the price.

If he wanted to retain it over the weekend he should have stated that in the auction details.

cheers guys

to be honest the description was very vague, so i went to look at it, thing is its in very good condition, no rust anywhere, the engine ran sweet, it would just need a clutch and the brake pipes greasing.

thing is I think that clutch is going to go anytime.

would he be liable to replace that if it went on him?

think the problem is if it "went" then your gonna have trouble getting it home so Id say to him if he uses it you wont want it cause your not gonna get any use from it until its repaired

Simple. It's an auction. The "hammer" has fallen. It's yours.
If it had been at British Car Auctions would you have gone to pay and have expected to have been told "you can't have it for four days"?

Ive just rang him, and he was like i need this car over the weekend, and I was well ok, you can use the car but I want £150 knocking of the auction price.

funnily enough he changed his mind.

Im picking it up at 11.30

ahh bless him, his voice dropped when I said that lol.

im just wondering how many people would have let him get away with that? he was obviously used to having the upper hand.

just shows you, dont let anyone push you about.

stand up for yourself be asertive and you do get what you want.

Hang on, hang on, you've forgotten to thank me. It was obviously my reply that inspired you to take the above course of action. Sheesh, some people....Well done anyway
