dont be blinded by short term presents.
look at the management fee's the goverment allows investors to charge 1.5% and block/unit purchase charges. Which in todays market sucks must serious funds are less than 1% and no purchase charges. The rumour is the government is actually getting some share of the administartion charges hence nearly double to the other funds this will allow them to recoup the initial £250 for each child.
Also think about your child not being able to access any money placed into this fund until they are 18. University car ect may happen 1 year ahead of this time.
I have placed my childs cheque into a halifax trust and will not pay any more into it the ivestment specialist at halifax also agreed and he has done the same for his child, the charges are not competitive enough. My son already has a witan henderson trust and a share isa. The witan henderson charges are 0.82% nealry half what the CTF charges are. and has good past performance.
if your child allready has a trust then think seriously about starting and paying into another, if you have nothing for them then anything is better than nothing. Go talk to a finanacial advisor
