Will admit to being an argumentative sort though.

Problem is thus:
tax up 2p on a pint
old price of a pint £2.50
new price of a pint £2.52.
Errr, no! It's gonna be £2.55 or £2.60. Either that or the breweries soak up the 2p this year and put them up 4p next.
**** can go up to £10/£20 for all I care

exactly, the tax rise on **** is to make people stop buying em for their own healths sake, and as for beer, in the pubs round my way (south london), anything around the 3.30 mark is average for a pint. pints never have a set price all over the country anyway they vary so much you wouldnt notice where the 2p had been added or not

.........and then people moaning about the people moaning about the people moaning.
Who cares about price rise on tobacco anyway. Any addict worth their salt will either go and get their own supplies at £2 a packet or know someone else selling dodgy packs at a small premium on top. The only real losers are the Govt in this.

a) Do you think the govt give a **** about you or anyone else?
b) If the above was true, why not just ban cigarettes altogether like they do, drugs?
c) Wouldn't they put the price up MORE than they have if it was to be a deterrent? Smokers will be happy to pay a few pence extra - I guarantee that NO-ONE will quit as a direct result of the increase.
d) Just how happy do you think the Govt would be if people started quitting and not giving them all that lovely tax money? They'd be devestated!
