I hope the w4nker who did it gets a serious sentence and gets treated roughly in prison for killing a baby.
Why do people do it? I just can't understand the mentality of people who attack the fire/any emergency services when they attend fires/incidents
I just hope that little boy didn't feel a thing

Give the b@stard a life sentance for murder. Cases like this deserve the death sentance.
Before any pc/human rights start bleating, this is about the life of an innocent two year old, and then some scum bag attacking those happy to risk their lives to save others.
Truly horrific.

Poor little fella.
Well there's clearly evidence of intent, as the shooter had been shooting at the firemen too and hit one of them. Unless his defence is "I hit the kid by accident - I was actually trying to hit another fireman".
Lock the **** up and throw the key away.

May I just state that I don't think they apply here as the offender is clearly sub-human

Pretty Sure the Firemen get attacked almost as regulary as NHS Staff.
We should send out Armed Police with Some Firefighters (in the Dodgy Areas) and Shoot back at these *******. As stated above - **** Human rights - these w@nkers don't deserve to be drawing breath.

My car caught fire about 20 yrs ago in the centre of Winchester, so the Firebrigade came along to put it out, by the time they arrived it had just about gone out.
Just as they were about to leave a load of skins came round the cornet throwing bottles and stuff at the engine and the men. Anyway there were a few men on board so half pile into the fire engine and shoot off ahead of the skins and the rest pile up the road in a sort of "pincer movement" and basically beat the living **** out of them. Funny but the two bobbies standing next to my car never saw a thing (and neither did I ) Justice was definitely done that night.

A guy I used to work with is a retained fireman. He's told me in the past that the scum on the two local estates are notorious for setting skips alight, then lying in wait for the brigade so they can take pot shots at them. His station now refuses to attend fires on either estate unless they have a police escort. I would imagine most of his watch have 'no knowledge' of incidents similar to that described by Andy

Awful, and the sort of thing for which the death sentence could and should be imposed.
Straying slightly, this is one of the reasons the governement (and previous ones) have wanted to restrict the availability of weapons of any type, but to be honest, the thing you need to restrict is the number of muppets who just want to have a go at authority.
Then again, we're talking about Easterhouse, which (unless it's changed in the last decade) is a desperate place, one of the roughest I've experienced.

The real solution to this is to get tough on criminals & crime. Bring Back the Birch for the first time offenders - then cut off their ******* hands if they still don't learn - Apparently it's quite tricky shooting a Gun with no hands !
I've just about had enough of criminals taking the **** out of our Justice system - This guy will probably get 5 years for manslaughter (I'm talking about how much time he will probably serve as to any sentence he might get given !)
I can honestly say the everybody I know feels the same way - So why do we keep pandering to criminals / tree huggers etc ?
As for these w@nkers coming out of Jail and suing for having to slop out - I'm thinking of murdering someone - get 5 years of being looked after by the state then sue them for £250,000 for making me clean out my own toilet !

Actually, there's hope if you think about it - perhaps our resident 5-0 (or whatever name was picked) will help.
He won't get done for murder - no intent, not with a poxy (I assume) airgun.
He will get done for manslaughter (I think).
He'll get done for shooting in a public place , especially in current anti-gun climate.
He'll get done for attacking a member of the emergency services - if this isn't an offence in itself, it should at least be aggravating circumstances.
If the judge then asks for the sentences to run consecutively, rather than concurrently, that should keep him out of the way for a bit.
Alternatively he'll get sectioned

Shocking on two levels. The first that some sick fool thinks it's a bit of a laugh to take pot shots at Fireman, and the second that an innocent child has been killed.
This suspect needs to be publically named and shamed, and given a decent lynching. Stuff putting him in court, just butcher him publically. No mercy should be shown to scum such as this.
What on earth goes through the minds of the fools that shoot at fireman? It's the same as morons dropping bricks from motorway bridges, how on earth is it funny?

I know. But I'm assuming that a decent defence will say that no lawfully limited airgun, fired at a fireman wearing full protective clothing, can ever reasonably be intended to cause grevious bodily harm - ABH yes, GBH no. The prosecution could only show this if they can PROVE the guy was aiming for the fireman's face - and I think that's highly unlikely. All the defendant needs to do is to say "I was going for his jacket for a laugh, and I'm a crap shot / the wind took it, etc", and there goes your intent... and your conviction.

Absolutely stunned by this. It's a tragedy on so many counts.
What sort of society produces someone twisted enough to shoot the emergency services? I can't get my head around why someone would want to do that at all. It's not like you're rebelling against authority, is it? What sort of society knows that this goes on and thinks its acceptable? The guy will have mates that he brags about it to, for sure.
I genuinely am horrified by what the parents are going through. We have an 18 month old son, and I can't imagine life without him: it's cliched but he's our life now. Filling up writing this. Words cannot express the anger I feel, but strangely its directed at the system that produced and allowed such a twisted person to live like this at the age of 27... Not really the dumb idiot himself.
I suspect the enormity of his "having a laugh taking potshots that'll cause no harm" (or whatever he bragged about, or justified to himself so he could sleep at nights) is now sinking in. I'm hoping that living with what he's done is worse than any punishment anyone could give to him, but am assuming he's not totally detatched from society which is probably a baseless assumption.
Now excuse me whilst I go and put my fist through the wall.

Before the flaming starts, I'm not defending this guy in anyway. I'm just amazed at the attitudes here. Yes, he killed a child and he should pay the penalty for that behind bars but does it make him any more evil because he ended up killing a kid than if he had just shot a fireman in his backside? Would it still be okay for him to be murdered in prison then?
