It's a scam.

I get this email every week or so. I have stopped sending it on to ebay.

My mate's GF fell for this and found she was suddenly £500 down on her credit card.

Agreed, it's just a scam. Someone's trying to get your ebay account details or other personal information. Just delete it and forget about it, this sort of thing goes on all the time.

You should have forwarded it to ebay's security dept. I've had 2 of these in the past week and one today purported to be from paypal. They are spoof emails trying to glean passwords et al. By sending them on without opening any links etc. to either eBay or Paypal, the security people can sometimes trace them or at least inspect them and try to track them.
Tempting as it is to reply with threats and bad language, and believe me, I've been sorely tempted, that line of action only opens up a dialogue for future reference with these scumbags.
I just feel so, so sorry for the green users who fall for this crap.

Thumbs down

Phishing.

About 3% of people fall for it. Sometimes more when it's particularly sophisticated.

Cheers
