SORN, TAX and keeping your vehicle off road.

SORN, TAX and keeping your vehicle off road.
Hey - I need your help with road tax and stuff!
The law states the following: 'The law allows 14 days from the date the licence was due in which to relicense. SORN declarations are only required if the vehicle is going to be kept off road beyond this period. However, if the vehicle is used or kept on a public road it must display a valid tax disc.'
Does this mean that when my tax runs out I can keep the vehicle off road without declaring SORN and not get fined?
Basically my tax will run out soon and I won't be around to renew it for a couple of days max. (no one else can do it either for me). The car will be off road but will be untaxed for approx 3 days.
Is this alright???
Cheers
