Modern Bond films are crap. Nobody except senior AP thinks they're any good anymore do they?
Come to think of it, the old Bond films seem pretty crap these days too.

I'll admit that Connery did bring something extra to the roll, but they are all pure adventure and escapism. Treat them as that and they are fine - nothing more. Besides Ms Berry, you also get the rather nice Rosamond Pike in 'Die Another Day', so it's not all bad.

.As for the films I agree they are crap npw compared to years ago. Too much emphasis on special effects.

Bond films are utter crap that's totally unbelievable... but they still work, purely cos it's Bond! 
Bourne Indentity is unrealistic too but doesn't work as well cos it not Bond, he's just another agent.

I watched it last night and cringed at most of the one liners. The exchange between bond and jinx in Cuba when she comes out of the water. And when shes about to be cut by the laser "save me james otherwise I will be half the women I was" - oh please 
I think films have come on so much that we dont expect such crap lines these days. Connery pulled it off but they need to change the format IMHO.
Also the CGI for the windsurfing and the Halle Berry dive off the cliff were pathetic.

Its just a bit of impossible escapism but it is entertaining in places and does no harm anyway.
The modern films are not a patch on the originals and the first books which started it were good to read also. Fleming was a good writer. At least most of the action in the original films was believable.

Die another day.......... was the best of the Brosnan films, by a long shot.
Sure it's a bit cheesey in places but look back and find me a Bond film that isn't.
The intro was awesome - Bond not only captured but tortured... unthinkable!
Screw Hally Berry though, Rosamund Pike was well fit!

what spoils it for me is Pierce Brosnan when he talks and the speed the action sequences are filmed at - you cant see what is really happening it all happens so fast.
Also the smoothe suave spy bit which is more believeable has gone, and we are left with a terminator bond, whereas before you could associate with the character.
