Are West Midlands people....
.....all rude obnoxious tw@ts.
Been working near Coventry on a project for a couple of months and can't believe how rude people are round here. Not talking about the IT people on the project, just services staff like canteen ladies, security guards etc.

I always remember Chris Tarrant on Capital talking to a listener who said she was studying at Coventry Uni. "Coventry? Ah, that's a nice place <pause> to get stabbed on a Wednesday night..."

They must be similar to the miseries in London and the south east then. Too much of a hurry to even notice anyone else and they never have a smile on their faces. If you are disabled you have to watch out or they just walk straight into you!

Although we are south (Very) south Lincs, we get gathered in with east Mids sometimes for the sake of newscasters / weather forecasters and that ilk. May I say, that since we moved here back in August last year, we have been made to feel very welcome and I haven't seen one miserable git yet.
Now take South Herts were I used to live....blimey, what an assortment there, unfriendly lot.

And should we not tar everyone with the same brush? Maybe the folks you came across were working in a unhappy atmosphere, hence their demeanor.

Cov is a nice city - few chavs, like most other places, but mostly cool people - friendly.
It's dead diverse here, and not as much trouble as people think - everyone gets along

Coventry dwellers can't drive to save their lives. Lane discipline is non-existant, indicators are a mere option and side mirrors / RVM are to be avoided at all costs.
The ordinary people on the street however, are really nice. We were amazed at just how polite the people were. When we first went out and about in Coventry, we were shocked at people actually saying "please", "thank you", "excuse me" and generally really nice.
Just put them behind a steering wheel and they try to take you off the road.....

I've never found west midlanders rude, I do like laughing at their dumb sounding accent though.
If Einstein had talked like that he'd have ended up driving a bus rather than being an iconic genius.
