Probably too late to say this - sorry .....
was it a motorised diverter valve?
Whats was foobarred, the valve or the motor?...whole valve =£80...a new motor for the valve = £20 (in parts - no labour)
The motor takes 5 mins to swap, the valve about 30mins depending on draining and filling.
