My neice is waiting to go to court for 90 in 60 (stupid girl doing overtake past a visible camera. That'll teach her observation at least.) Trouble is she's only 20 and has had licence under 2 years so I think she might get more and have to do retest.

there was a bloke in court before me. they were going to ban him. he managed to keep his licence saying he needed it for work. but then they said that since he has had his licence for less than two years and got six points instead of the ban. the dvla would be in touch and would revoke his licence and would have to take his test again.

So, what are your plans now then? You going to get a push bike or go away on holiday for a few weeks. Just dont be tempted to ride your wheels again until that deadline has gone.

Perhaps unless you have already done so, you could invest in a snooper S4 or similar. (I did and its good company, but can get on your nerves a bit)

allways ride a pushbike to work anyway (only round the corner). the scoob only comes out to play at the weekend. so it is only three weekends i have to be without. being a copper i would have thought your suggestion would to be to not speed. but i might try your idea of getting a snooper instead.

You are so right, the first suggestion would be to say DONT SPEED, but hey, that would fall on deaf ears though. We all know we should not speed but hand on heart who can honestly say they never speed.

I have the snooper as an added extra, it is a reminder not something to drive by and speed ***** nilly. It tels you via GPS of Camera sites and high risk zones also schools and makes you more aware.

consider yourself quite lucky, I got 2 months for a similar speed way back in the mists of time when I was young and foolish (or is that young and unlucky?).

Doesn't matter, if you are given a ban your licence is returned sans-points anyway. One of the smaller bonuses of getting banned instead of your licence loaded with 6-9 points. Imagine going from a clean licence to having say 9 points on your licence - you'd have three years of not speeding anywhere for fear of getting a 12 month auto ban. instead they ban you straight away for a period a lot less than the 12 months for the totting up procedure, allowing you back on the road to drive however you choose.

He did not get points, he got banned instead.

Now he has the matter of telling his Insurance company that he has been banned from driving, and they may want to impose an extra few pounds on to his insurance. Now that will hurt.

They may also not load his premium. My insurance changed very little having been banned based on the fact that it was a speeding charge and was under a 3 month ban.

Also depends on which insurance company you are with.

Whats wrong with you lot??

If you can't keep your speed under control buy a car that will do it for you!

It always makes me laugh these people paying £1000's to PPP thier car + add more BHP on top of the allready licence losing 215BHP!

Pay £1000's now to lose £1000's and your licence later - sounds good???? Derrrrr!!!!

Come on!! SLOW DOWN!!

Just reading this thread and was amazed nobody had decided to have a go at the highly dangerous act of speeding, jump to page 2 and the first thing i see is the above statement

He did wrong,he got caught,he's paid the price......job done.

Now you want him to sell his car and buy something he will not enjoy driving, mountain and molehill spring to mind.

If you want to drive a low powered car then drive one Mr Lewis but everyone has a choice and if they want to drive a high powered car then it's up to them,if they get caught doing wrong then they pay the price as he has done.

More to the point pretty much every new car on the road is capable of doing 90mph nowadays so where does that leave your theory?

Its leaves it simply in the realms of reality .....

Cameras are all over now .....

Speeding is a big NO NO ......

So? why spend £1,000's on getting your 215BHP car up even more!!!???

Doesn't make sense to those with a firm grip on their faculties!

Pete, you've got so much in common with the 70 limit, I'm surprised you haven't got it stamped on your forehead....both out of date, both from a bygone era, both of you ignoring the quantum leap in technology that renders you both past your sell by date. Accept it, people ignore the speed limits because they don't represent the modern world, much like yourself.

In your way of thinking then everyone should be in Smart cars that are restricted to 86mph,anything with more power or speed potential is a waste of time and money, because surely improving upon an already overly powerful car is the same as buying the car in the first place.

I think you better go and start working at Brabus and tell them if they fitted all the big Merc's with 600cc Smart engines then they would get a lot more custom as people would see the sense in having a less powerful car which would keep them out of trouble. You would be an industry icon and could shape the way for super saloons of the future.Well done you genius

Track Use Excepted ............... there is NO space on our roads for cars speeding

That is FACT

That is the LAW

That is the reason you will eventually lose your licence ......

All I am saying is ............ is it worth it???

I'm not condoning speeding,i'm simply pointing out the genius in your theory.
Some people go out and spend thousands on fishing rods when a twig and piece of string will catch a fish,to me that is insane, but it's their hobby and it's up to them how they spend their money,so if someone wants to upgrade their car, whether it be a 1.2 nova or a Ferrari Enzo it is entirely up to them.
Where is your problem with that??
The car could be uprated for track day usage but also used as a daily runabout, doesn't mean you have to speed everywhere.
Do you drive your car at it's top speed everywhere??
Or do you use that thing on the end of your leg and not press down as hard on the right hand pedal and stick to the speed limit?
The car doesn't make you speed, your right foot does, control it and you have no issue with the LAW no matter how powerful your car is.

People buy £1000 Carp Rods to IMPROVE their fishing over a stick and bent pin, but, of course, thats LEGAL!!

Buying a fast car and making it faster and using that speed (why buy it if not to use it?) IS ILLEGAL!!

You'll have to do better at chosing an analogy than that to make any debate stand up to me!!

Pete
