HitchHikers Guide Trailer released
On the whole looks pretty good, still uses old Quaries for Alien Planets
Marvin looks a bit disapointing, cant see the little megaman look alike having as much of an Impact as the old 7foot tall Marvin from the original series.

Hello
To be honest, looking at the trailer, I don't think it will be very good. I really like the TV series, and it appears that strangely there is more subtle humour and relevant special effects in there than the movie.

I'm sorry, can somebody point me to the bit in either the radio series, the books, or even the original TV series, where it said Ford Prefect was an annoying black american 'comedian'
Can anyone else hear that strange buzzing sound?
It sounds a bit like a big motor rotating at seriously high rpm
It's OK, I know what it is.
It's Douglas Adams spinning in his grave

I was a big fan of the original series so I think I'll have a look at this when it's released
Am not expecting it to be better though but we'll see........

I thought Douglas Adams oversaw the initial script and tweaked a few bits here and there. I don't remember them being ambushed by the remnants of ground force though.
I hope it's not as bad as it looks.
BTW did anyone think that the guide looked as though it was designed by Apple?

It was done properly the first time, slightly amateurish and the sets were naff but it was perfect. Agree with Crispduck, Ford prefect was a furtive, odd little white guy, not a wise cracking, good looking black dude, the whole point was that he was a bit odd, That bloke out of the office is a good piece of casting though, he does the same deadpan and long suffering thing that Arthur Dent was about.
Where is Zaphods second, cutting edge (for the eighties), very unrealistic head ?

Wondering what "old Quaries" meant; you mean "old quarries"! Thought it was a funny town I'd never heard of!
Ford was supposed to come from Guildford. Maybe that's Guildford MA.
Just watched it without sound (none here), and generally I don't object.
I didn't like Marvin in the TV series, it was his attitude that was depressing, yet they had to issue him with a big head with a frown painted on the front for people who couldn't understand "listening". Not sure I remember reference to his physical description in the book - tall, short, whatever.
Zaphod's second head appears to be underneath his first one from the clip, not sure I get that.
I'll wait.

Have watched the trailer a few times now. I think Martin Freeman does seem to make a rather good Arthur. As for Mos Def as Ford, hmm, well, when I watched it without sound I thought he was ok, turning on the sound, hmm, no, don't think so.
Stephen Fry as The Book, well that'll be pretty good, and I like the graphical view of the book looks very Apple like (If you did not know DA was a big Macintosh advocate, as is Stephen Fry)
I'm not convinced by Marvin either, but I'll wait for the final film before totally slagging it off.
Oh and the vogons voices sounded far to 'friendly'

It will have to be very good to compare with the first one. Its always difficult to make another to compare with an outstanding first version as the original Guide was.
