Default Best American Style fridge freezer up to £1k

Looking for a big American style fridge freezer, ice cude maker, drinks dispenser etc etc - up to £1k...any ideas ?
This LG looks good - GRL207DVZA had a fiddle in Comet (though would buy online) & nice size, felt solid etc.

Thoughts ?

I have a 6month old Whirlpool, mind you exchanged it for a bottle of scotch so I'm not going to complain!! Ooodles of fridge space, but with the drinks cooler / icecube maker the freezer spaces is not as generous as it may seem. Check out the cubic ft size of the freezer and compare to standard freezers to see if it is big enough for what you need. We have a nice big pantry so the old FF is being kept there as a beer fridge and freezer oveflow!!

Yeh interesting point, that LG looked huge, but then when opened it, there wasn't as much space as you might have expected.

The other thing you need to be a bit wary of is that not only are they wider (obviously) they tend to be a good bit deeper, so you can find they come forward of work surfaces etc. This may not be an issue depending on where you put it, but it could look really odd in some places.

We bought one of these. I thought Buy Electrical Direct had very good customer service and were also the cheapest. The courier company who delivered it were crap, but BE sorted it out for me. Fridge is fantastic, a bit more than £1000 but well worth it IMO. It is also standard depth

I have a Samsung SR2029 ( I think they have superseded it with the RS21F now )

Don't underestimate the usefulness of the flappy bit into the fridge compartment for milk etc.

Agree frozen compartments are relatively small.

No, chavs can usually be recognised by their inability to spell

I have this very fridge and would recommend it, although the points mentioned above are well worth bearing in mind.......

The depth of the thing is huge so it can look well out of place in certain locations. Also, the damn thing wouldn't go through the door of my house so the doors had to be removed along with all the associated pipework and electrical connections...

It also takes 4 to lift it to be sure you don't drop it.... I certainly wouldn't trust 2 folk to try and lift it!

The freezer size is a lot smaller than you'd think due to the ice compartment/water dispenser, so much so that we ended up buying a chest freezer to go in the utility room as there simply wasn't enough space for my weight-watchers meals!

Got a Whirlpool from www.Tribaluk.com excellent piece of kit and A1 service from Tribal.
When we were looking to buy we phoned them direct and they told not to buy just yet as the one we were looking at was the old model and a newer version was about to be released and it was only £40 more. Delivered it no problem too, even asked about door sizes to make sure they could get it in no problem.
Good point about the size of them, ours is quite a bit deeper than the units it is fitted into.

Thats the boy we got, filters for the water/ice etc IIRC they also do an extended warranty for not a lot of cash either.

John.

Ummm... I've seen that same Fridge (Samsung) in Costco for £700... We have the one without the cool drink dispenser / ice cube dispenser as everyone we spoke to HAD one said it broke in no short order...

Excellent fridges, but I would do without the drinks dispenser...
