Airgun Question
Anyone out there into air rifles, i'm after some info on setting up a decent field target package. I used to work in a gunshop for about 5 years at the end of the eighties everything then was spring powered except Theoben with Air Arms and Daystate precharged getting on the scene just as i left the scene. Biggest seller back then was a Weihrauch Hw77k which i think is still going but must be getting long in the tooth by now as i remember it's launch.
Anyhows i have a house full of trophies from my field target days back then and fancy getting back into it again but nowadays havn't got a clue whats the best set up for field target.
Anyone help me out

FT has indeed moved on alot in that time. For top flight rifles, have a look at Anshultz, Ripley, Daystate, Air Airms. I gave up shooting FT in favor of HFT, where cash doesn't count as much as skill. Also have a look a www.airgunbbs.com
Believe it or not, the HW77 is still going strong on the springer side of FT.

Yep, another vote for airgunbbs, top resource.
If you are serious about FT, it has got really serious these days. HFT is a lot more fun though IMHO and even I've won stuff doing it (OK, only in the raffle, but still).
Cheers

The irony is I could sell it second-hand for more than I bought it new

cheers for the answers folks, looks like iv'e got a bit of thinking to do.Kinda like the looks of the Air Arms S410k looks about what i'm after.
Things seem to have progressed since my first air rifle a BSA Mercury.S in 1984 my favourite was an Air Arms Khamsin really looked the dogs even if it sounded a bit twangy...wish i still had it

Wow, there is a blast from the past - wanted a HW77k soooo bad back then!
I've got my Venom tuned Feinwerkbau Mk3 .177 sitting behind me in the study with it's trusty ASI 4x40 scope, Airmasters 2 stage trigger mod, Airmasters silencer with shortened barrel (from the back end to retain the choke) and custom Walnut stock.
Took it out the other day having not fired it for a couple of years and it was still zeroed and shooting tight groups at 25 yards (length of garden) and making 860fps through the trap
Looked for a HW77 on eBay the other day and was stunned that they are still holding their money.
Cheers!
