Digital cameras .....my head hurts!
o.k, my 2nd Sony V1 which I had for xmas is going back for a refund as the lens rattles and it sounds as though it dropped out of a xmas cracker..... but what do I go for instead?? I went for the Sony as it was a 5mp camera with 4x optical zoom and was selling for half its original price as the V3 was out and seemed a good bargain... wrong
So, what should I be looking at? I have searched dpreview.com and the Canon G6 and Nikon coolpix 5700 seem like good alternatives. Anyone use either of these and can comment upon them? or can recommend any others?

Friend of mine has the G5, loves it. Can't comment on the Coolpix cameras though.
I have heard good things about the Konica Minolta DiMage range too.
DPReview is a pretty good source, have a good read of the reviews on there.

I second DPReview for technical camera reviews - but most important of all is to pick one you actually like the feel of. Make a short list of two or three models then pop down to a decent camera store and try them out for yourself.
Don't allow yourself to be swayed by the number of megapixels - here are some 3MP photos from my old Canon D30, feel free to print them out at whatever size you like and then tell me you need more!
