Talking Ok, Guys - Think Outside The Box - Heads UP!

Don't these phrases just dick you RIGHT off??

"bring to the table"

"going great guns"

"jump through hoops"

"pro-active"

"actionable"

"incentivise"

"impact" (used as a verb)

"leverage" (used as a verb)

"there is an issue around..."

"take it to the next level"

"an exercise in box-ticking"

"out of the loop"

"whats your toolbox"

"Let's leave that idea in the car park with engine running"

"Let's put some blue sky on this situation"

"Magnetic North".

"going in with an open kimono policy"

"this is a steep learning curve leading to a major culture change"

"we need to send out an SOS, put up the red flag and see what comes over the horizon - hopefully the Cavalry"

Its NOT big and its NOT clever .... so, stop talking like dorks!!

Nothing to do with this but just thought I'd put it.

Whenever someone uses these cliche's americanised phrases, it just reminds me of Gus Hedges.

They would if I actually heard any of them on a regular basis, but as you've just ripped them off the BBC without crediting the source, you can spare us the lectures:

On that basis, shouldn't you credit Google?

Of course, pslewis would never indulge in "blue skies thinking". Wrong colour.

Some of these I come across almost every day

Environment, used as meaningless suffix to make the speaker seem more knowledgable than they really are.

Economies of scale.

Right-Shoring.

Best-Practice.

Singing from the same hymn book

Can I claim a corner in here?

Thumbs down

I blame "Investors in People" and "Investors in Excellence", which IMHO are organisations formed with the SOLE porpose of conning companies and schools out of their training budget

So what do they get? A naff "bronze" plaque!

The good ole service economy eh. I'll cut your hair, you cut mine and we both better get in some "tricholgical consultants" first.

"Horses for courses" is a very old saying and has nothing to do with the other rubbish.

Cool

Genuine quote from Lewis, writing for his school newsletter:

The headline figures, although very notable, hide probably what the Hurst is best at – and that is in the value we add to our pupils as they make the journey from child to young adult.

What does "adding value" to pupils mean?? Do they get put up for sale at some point and Lewis has made them more expensive? I can see these pupils future CV's now - "spent time under the guidance of the internet's biggest mong".
Added value indeed.

"Let's sunset that project for now"

One of the Americans says this when things need to be postponed due to whatever reason.

Used to work for a company that bought a Texan company. The CEO of the company couldn't compose a sentence without at least one of these bull**** phrases - It was very difficult to make out what the **** he was trying to say cos he was always bumbling incomprehensible rubbish.

Turns out he's a pal of GW Bush (which didn't surprise any of us !!!)
