Exercise Bikes
I have newly become interested in purchasing a exercise bike, but have no clue which to buy. I thought the collective knowledge of scoobynet, and all the fitness gurus could help.
Basically i want a decent stable fitness bike, not a flimsy one you find in argos. Heart rate monitor handle things and such. Looking to spend about £250. ANy suggestions as to which to buy and any good deals going?

Get a proper bike, and a cycle trainer. That way, when the warmer weather comes, you'll be able to get outside.
Believe me, sitting on an exercise bike, 15 minutes feels like 3 hours. If you got outside on your bike, 3 hours feels like 30 minutes!!!
Have a look here for a quick guide to them....

I'll second that, turbo trainers are boring(time stands still), but a must in the winter months if you cycle competitively. They are also quite hard work as your perceived heart rate is often lower than your actual rate. Therefore to train effectively a heart rate monitor is a must really.

I bought one of these for the wife to hang our clothes on.
The guy advised us to get a min of 8kg flywheel weight, and plug-in belt sensor better than those on the handles as the latter don't let you change grip.
Can also be more interesting if you get one with a decent selection of programs.
