I've never used or come across one but I keep winning just by bidding in the remaining 20 seconds or so.

I'm giving away all my secrets here

Try www.bidslammer.com

I've tried several and this one IMO is by far the best. It's server rather than software based (your PC doesn't have to be on). I've been using it for just over 18 months and there's not much I don't win now (provided that the max bid is set realistically).

The bids are executed within 4 to 5 secs of auction end - very few can time it that closely "manually".

It also means that you can set up bids in advance for the odd auction that closes in the early hours of the morning, or whilst you're at work/out and when you're on holiday.

Cheating? Possibly - but it works for me

Do what I do, just bang in a realistic maximum bid. If it goes over that you lose but then you are not paying over the odds for stuff.

Works for me and you don't have to spend you life checking on your auctions.

Cool

I use Hammersnipe, also server based so you don't have to have your PC on.

I prefer to use snipe as no one knows you are interested in it, so it can lull them into a false sense of security.

I've won several things using it, would recommend them.

I use Powersnipe

I win most I want to as long as I've put enough money in as maximum amount. You can still get outbid by other snipers if you have 2 or more going for the same item...

Interesting, Ive been using Ebay for years and often wondered if there was software out there to put in last minute bids - will have to try them out!

On the other hand I generally put a last minute bid in manually upto my max price, so if I dont win the item it went for more than I was willing to pay anyway so....

Sniping doesn't work Loads will say it does but they are disillusioned. As said, just bid the maximum you are prepared to pay. If it goes over, so what, at least you didn't spend more than you were prepared to. Just because a bid goes in right at the end doesn't mean you stand a better chance of winning. If an auction is at 20 quid, but the winner has bid 80 by proxy and a sniper comes along and bids 25, they still won't win. Sniping is pure fun, not a way of winning auctions.

Never use them, just put in your max bid within the last couple of minutes, doesnt give people the chance to "think" about upping their bid.

The other thing is,something else ALWAYS comes along.
Win some lose some..........

For those that are still sceptical - most sniping services offer free trials.

Personally, I'm pleased there seem to be so many non-believers. It just means those of us using sniping services will continue to win more than our fair share of the auctions - even if we are disillusioned

Its not about "winning" as you put it,its about buying something at a price.
Some of the best deals i've had on ebay are the ones i've lost, and some other muppet has overpaid.

Couldn't agree more Paul.

If you think I'm putting in crazy max bids just to win I'm afraid you're mistaken - or maybe I didn't explain myself properly I set a max that I believe makes the item a fair buy. If someone else outbids me, fine.

The fact remains that using Bidslammer combined with an unchanged and selective bidding policy means that I now win more auctions than I did previously.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one

Oh, one last thing, I'm not one of your muppets either

I've never used a sniping service but late bidding does work. Even in the last minute people will rethink their maximum bid as they caught up in the "I must win at any cost" fever. I wait till the last 20 seconds - but make sure you're signed in permanently!

I've nothing against late bid sniper systems though I just do it myself. Gives you the last-second choice of just how much to fire your bid in at.

My best tip is to look at poorly advertised items/no picture.
Had a few good deals that way.

Spot on Paul. When searching for a specific item always enable "search in item description field". Many folk don't do this, and as a result miss out on items which haven't been listed and/or described "correctly".

Excactly.
Its the well advertised "fashionable" stuff that tends to go for daft prices,of course with badly advertised items you have to ask a few more qustions than usual.

...and dont always be put off by negative feedback.
I've got one by some d*ckhead.

Thats so true, I once bought an amplifier on eBay for £65, was advertised badly, no pic, seller had no feedback, BUT he was local, so I collected it, relisted it and sold it for £190 ..... result !

any server based snipe manager is better than a local pc one. I have used auctionsniper.com to great success, you get 3 free snipes for joining and 3 exra for each person you refer. I havent had to pay to snipe yet.
