Thumbs down Rodney Marsh sacked- another ex. of PC gone mad

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertain...io/4208135.stm

Cant believe he got sacked for the Beckham Toon Army joke.
Its a play on words poking fun at David Beckham thats all.

Sounds like Sky is run by people similar to the holier than thou lot on here!
Just imagine what would happen if he was caught doing 32 in a 30 zone...... bring out the gallows!

I agree with Moses. Tasteless and thoughtless. I don't think this is anything about political correctness, it's just about decency.

The joke is naff anyway, I preferred the one about the Red Cross asking for aid parcels of Fairy Liquid because of all the people washing up on the beach, but I'd never repeat it on television.

From Skys "viewers posts"....

"I think this was a disgrace, his so-called joke would bring back hurt to those people that was hurt and those who lost loves ones, it was right to sack him."

Yeah......cause they forgot all about it and where watching the footie until they heard that.

Every day someone dies somewhere....should there be a no jokes about death law?

Anyway......the gag was Beckham's a retard not death by massive floods is funny........nuts.

A mate of mine was distributing an e-mail to a large number people at work today & he made a mistake with 1 of the dates in the message body, he was soon informed of it and sent out a following message saying he had made a mistake and signed it Rodney Marsh He recieved 20+ replies joking about his mistake, 5 phone calls taking the **** out of him, and 2 official complaints

Soon we won't be able to joke... full stop

*Off topic(ish) Rant*

Marsh made the comments during a live phone-in programme, You're on Sky Sports, on Monday
What a cracking programme that is:

To the Stupid single brain celled viewers who phone in to this show....

You pay for your TV licence
You Pay for your sky sports subscription
You PAY per minute to talk a load of BS and crap on the phone to the show you pay to watch + however long you spent on hold waiting for your turn

FFS Sky make millions out of your subscription and giving you 5mins of adverts for every 10mins of programmes and you STILL want to pay them more??

How stupid are some people?

That's not how it works. You call, leave your details and a synopsis of what you want to talk about, and then hang up. They call you back if you're going to be on the show.

I think the Toon Army joke doesnt poke fun at the victims or relatives, more at Beckam. But the Fairy Liquid joke, and the Tourists drifting back and Ellen McArthur being passed jokes are offensive and tasteless ...........

Aren't most jokes offensive to some people though? I would be gutted to loose my job over making a joke - however badly timed.

There is no such thing as an offensive joke - only easily offended people.
Get a grip ffs - this tsunami thing is starting to turn into another Diana bleeding hearts felchfest.

I got a feeling they were waiting for an excuse to get rid of him TBH, rather than his joke being instant dismissal.

I cant believe that someone was sacked over a ' sick ' joke. Everybody has at some time in their life told a 'sick' or ' offensive' joke. Even if he told it on tv, it was just that, a joke and nothing else.
If people loose their sense of humour, it will become and even sadder and cruel world than it is at the moment.
