Who does tape-to-CD transfers in West Yorkshire?
I have some 15 i.p.s 1/4" audio tapes that I'd like compiling onto a single CD. There's about an hour's worth of material. The only company I've found so far is based in Berkshire, which would mean sending the masters by post, which I'm not keen to do. Can anyone help?

Your best bet would be to have a ring round local recording studios (there's a few in Leeds and Huddersfield AFAIK) and see if any of them have a 1/4" machine but I think most of them use 2" now. Might be worth a shot anyway.

Thanks guys.... I took your advice MJW. I assumed everywhere would be all digital nowadays. I've been quoted £25 per CDs worth of material at Rik Rak in Leeds.Worth it, I reckon.
Thanks for your PM SD555.... I can take the tapes in the car and have them done while I wait at this place.

Ampex did a baking service for a while. We had some 2" that needed sorting, sent it off and it came back useable after it had been baked for a while. Call FX Rentals. They do lots of transfers now and they may be able to help. It isn’t worth the risk of running the tape through without baking.
