no sign of tony
well after the weekend we had here in carlisle with the floods and winds we're getting a visit of prince charles. after seeing the worst hit areas of the city its unbeleivable and yet theres no sign of good old tony whos too busy bickering on with fellow party members. we've had a visit off the minister for floods but thats about it and he dodged the questions, no sign of the army to help thing out either and there are parts of the region that still don't have any power

Not that I like the bloke that much, but he can't be everywhere - and I guess thats why he has cabinet ministers...

You expect him to come and wade through water? If he did you would say he was doing it for publicity and he should be at his desk working
He can't win with clowns like you so its a waste of time posting!

Agreed im afraid, he can't win. And once again, I dont like the blok but I do have a fair bit of respect for him. It was like the tsunami thing, he got a **** load of flak for not cutting his holiday short which was beyond me. I fail to see what benefit it would have made other than looking like a publicity stunt. To handle it via foreign affairs minister and him follow up with a statement after the holiday was much more tactful...

Fraid i must back Faster Mike up as im in the middle of Carlisles flood area and i have just scrapped quarter of a million quids worth of furniture and 15 years of my life '''##
Yes it will get replaced and i will be back on my feet in a few weeks but a Visit by Tony is a morale booster to the people of carlisle .
Eric Matlew our MP visited me and other retailers today and gave us hope and inspiration for the future that is the purpose of a visit.
Carlisle has never had floods like since 1820 and i hope i never see them again in my lifetime and to witness the loss of homes and damage to over 8000 homes is quite a tear jerker.

Don't worry, all you people of Carlisle, all those in York (who get flooded almost every year), and those in Boscastle and other flooded areas.
Tone's governemnet will see that flooding is NOT allowed to happen.................at least not in London, with plans to build a £20 BILLION barrier across the Thames mouth.
Can't have Londoners inconvenienced, can we?

Faster Mike,
Do you honestly think that he has any more interest in your plight than he has had for the last 7 1/2 years for the electorate of this country?
He pays lip service to it when he feels he needs to get some votes again as we will see later on, but all the great promises never actually happen. If they get caught out they will have the excuses lined up of course but no one believes any more anyway.

I understand what you mean mike!
Tsunami= We send lots of tax payers money that could be used elsewhere for our country, then people part with what's left of their wages and make donations yet we cant even help our own when we get hit by floods!!!
It's a disgrace!

Its good to hear that people are helping each other out in such a disaster.
No large sums of financial help!
No army helping!
No tv donation appeals from celebrities!
No 3 minute silence!
and to top it off the tv news footage was shown for all of 5 minutes AFTER the main headline showing Tsunami for about 15minutes!!
Our government are mugs!
United we stand!
