Unbelievable British Arways / US "security" today

Wouldn't you be absolutely livid if you were on that flight?
Why the hell did they have to turn it back to LHR?
Why not just take the bloke off the a/c when it landed at JFK and hold him in customs (poke him with sticks for a bit or someting ) for an hour or two until the next BA back to the UK? Or if the yanks were that bothered stick him on the very next flight back to the UK if it was that important.
What a waste of peoples time, money and plans/schedules just to not allow one guy into the 'land of the free'
Ggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Personally I would be livid that someone on a terrorist watchlist was able to buy a ticket and board a plane in the first place. Should have just flushed him down the bog and then landed in NYC as normal.

"The name matched one on their terroist list" - so the poor bloke was unlucky enough to have the same name as a terrorist. A) That doesn't make him a terrorist B) If he was - would he be THAT stupid to travel under that name to the States? Anyone fancy changing their name to Osama Bin Laden by deed poll ?
The world has gone mad.

Read the story again: there is no evidence that the man was a terrorist except he may have had a similar name (not the first time the US has fallen into that trap). But even if he had the same name, so what? What if the terrorist list included the muslim equivilant of John Smith and David Jones - lots of room for mistakes there. I'm reminded of the downing of the Air India plane over the Atlantic many years ago: the FBI announced they were closing in on a suspect. Apparantly his name was "Singh"...

Had he been to France recently? He might also have had a bag full of explosives care of the French police!

Total farce. This is the country that won't let Cat Stevens in!
It's just another one of those 'lets keep 'em all on their feet with the threat of terrorism crap' exercises.
There was absolutely no need to turn the flight back. If I was a passenger on that flight I'd be well p*ssed.

surely if this guy is on the terrorist list or what ever it'd be better to know where he was (on the flight) and catch him once he landed. shoot him and viola 1 less name on the list to worry about....
