I am hoping to buy a DVD Camcorder for my work in Africa and was wondering is the quality better,worse or the same when writing to DVD, compared with tape and then transfering to a computer for editing?

Anyone got a Sony model that they can recommend?

I have a DVD-91E, the quality is the same compared to mindv. Best bet would be to get a better model that has a higher quality CCD and should give better results. I have gone back to using my TRV-10E minidv tape.

When is someone gonna simply make a camera with an iPod dock in it ? 80g straight to HD digital quality. Editable on the HD or direct firewire transfer to Mac/PC for DVD burn.
