William Hill site is probably the best at the moment as you can play in dollars, Euro's or pounds. The majority of online sites are $s only and given the value of the dollar relative to our pound it can be quite frustraiting when you think you've had a good night but realise it wasn't that brilliant upon changing it back to pounds. Other sites to consider are Ladbrokes and Pokerstars.

Gl and remember and only play with what you can afford to lose

I play Texas Hold'Em (my favourite poker variant) at http://www.pokerroom.com/ . It's a pretty good site with lots of tables for both real and virtual money, and no waiting around for a game. They run tournaments as well, but I haven't entered any so far.

I play frequently at party poker, I believe they are the bggest online poker site.
If you use the code bonus-25 you get $25 in bonus chips to play with.

Cool

I cant believe none of u guys play at uk-poker.
Best site, plenty of action, vast variety of stakes/ tourneys etc,
good friendly players (mainly uk based).

As you play you get action points which you can exchange for
free entry into tournaments with big pots. Great fun.

I play on line at Poker Stars and Ultimate Bet in the US and Get Minted in the UK. As well as 3 live games a week.

Depends what you are after...they all play holdem but the money is in Omaha or stud hi/lo...unless you dont know what your doing in which case play teaxs with the fish!

Main thing to realise is that the games under $2/4 or tourneies under $50 are NOT like real poker. Thats ok if you only play on line but dont wander into a home game thinking it will be like a $.25/.50 online game.......you will loose a lot very fast!

Does anyone play online with real money? I used to play for real money quite often, but against people I either knew or were friends of friends. I'm rather reluctant to play online for real cash because of the potential for cheating and abuse by teams operating with instant messengers and the like to share details of their cards and so give themselves an edge.

Gary,

I play on line all the time. In fact have just finished a 110 runner game and make 2nd for £250. Im making about £100 a day avarge (try to always make £500 a week) and have cut my "real" work hours right down to cope.

Your concerns are common but not generally a big deal.

Only an issue if you are playing the BIG games where its worth cheating. I have seen a LOT of stuff that looks iffy but its actually very hard to "cheat" on line.

Good example was the game i was just in...down to last 3 and two of them where passing their chips back and forth....i suspected they where doubling up on me as i was short stack...in the end i got a hand and busted one of them right down, he then went out soon after. Now even if those guys where in the same room they didnt have much edge against me if im better/luckier.

I once contacted Poker Stars about chip dumping i susppected....their response was superb. They check all sorts of stuff to ensure odd stuff doesnt happen. They know who plays who, how often, which games....anything odd gets flagged up and they watch the play to see if its cheating.

Bottom line......the bigger risk is loosing your money because of luck...not crime!

Just in the door from playing a tourney at the casino. I paid my £10 entry and had a £10 top up after the buyin period was over. Numerous hours later and I walked out having finished first with £750. Chuffed to bits and I brought my a-game along tonight

Don't worry about online cheating its very unlikely to be a problem unless its high stakes and even if you sit at a table where two peeps are telling each other their hands in MSN it doesn't give them much of an edge at all unless they actively collude (i.e. bet the pot up to get others out). Active collusion is generally rare/non-existent at the lower levels and also easier to spot and take action against.

My advice if you are suspicious of online poker is to play at sites run by big well know companies such as Ladbrokes and Williamhill. If either of those two p!ss people around and it hits the Sun/Daily Record/Star then its very very bad for business.

I play limit texas hold'em most nights. You'll find the Betfair + WillHill system is the same (sharing the same users).. but it's pretty good.

If you want to dip your toe in the water, join the $1 games - then go and spectate the $100 games to really frighten yourself !

Saxo......good result. Which casino was that?

I played a £20 rebuy at the Lutton Grovesnor just before xmas......I rebought 4 times and i was prob the lowest rebuyer there!!!! Table near me had about 8 rebuys each AT LEAST!

I now only play the £100 freezeout instead (plus a home game once a week which is £25 with 18 runners and cash afterwards, a home game of my own and any other that i spot local to me)

Proper money seems to be in the ring games though......if my tourney odds are looking poor i will get out ASAP and head for the cash table!

Only prob is the $1 (or 50p!) games are full of idiots that cant play. You will get outdrawn by morons calling with any crap, no one will fold to a decent raise, etc, etc.

You actually have a better chance of making money in the $20+ games than the cheap ones.

After loosing $500 to the fish in $5 tourneys i sold some stuff and put $2k online so i had a decent roll to play $30/$50 games or $2/4 or $5/10 cash....never looked back.

It was the Maybury which if I recall is part of the Gala group. I used to play regularly but recently my lass has been staying on sunday nights so it had been a while. Last night was just a, 'I fancy the maybury the night mood' and it seems that was a well founded mood. Couldn't come at a better time with a service, mot, insurance and tyres all due

Swings and roundabouts.. I'm just a beginner and I'm doing OK with my money.. If I went and played against the "good players" I'd get eaten alive I suspect.
