Default Any smokers want to stop?

thats stop smoking cigarettes, not men

Have a look here www.morningside.co.uk

Have had my stop smoking 'stitch' in for 8 hours now and am still not tempted (i`d usually be going up the wall by now)

90% success rate (patches etc. have about 30% success rate at best) i`ll keep anyone who`s interested posted on how i get on

cheers

Ab

they put a stitch-like 'thing' in part of your ear, i cant even begin to spell what the real name for it is. Its an acupuncture thing and affects a nerve in your body that basically decreases the nicotine level in your blood and so stops the cravings. The bloke told me that after 5 days, the feeling of not wanting to smoke will be greater than the want to smoke.

i`m not too good at explaining, but they`ll happily talk you through it if you phone them

It tickles me that people try to give up a nicotine habit by taking nicotine in a different way. It's like suggesting a heroin adict starts chasing the dragon rather than injecting to help them give up

My last *** was on New years Eve and I have not been tempted to have one at all since then. (Quite a heavy smoker before giving up).

The thing is, I have not gone out to the pub with my friends in that time. Alcohol removes all sense of reason for not having one. That is the real test!!!

Good for you. You'll probably find you "think" about smoking quite a bit for the first couple of weeks or so, once that passes and you stop thinking about it, it is no longer an issue.

I gave up (pretended really) for 3 months last year. Was not a problem at all for me. My down fall that time, was that at the start I allowed myself to smoke when drinking, thinking that as time went on I'd stop all together.

LOL how wrong was I!!! Turned into a weekend smoker when going out!

This time I'm not going to smoke at all when going out! Fingers crossed!

Totally agree!!! I gave up smoking as easily as i started. I can't stand the smell now. Don't really understand how patches help the cause at all. Its just willpower at the end of the day. If you really wanted to quit, it'd be a no-brainer

I applaud all who give up. I tried and cant, probably is the will power of a lettuce, but lets make one thing clear nicotine is the most addictive of all drugs

The latest research indicates that giving up smoking is harder than coming off heroin, so not quite as easy for most smokers as many non-smokers think.

10 days off the weed for me so far...

I suspect (not read the research) that it is from a psychological perspective that it is harder to give. Smoking is little more than a mental crutch anyway, if you want to give up then you will and it isn't really that hard to do, just takes a little self discipline for a couple of weeks.

At the end of the day, it is easy to give up if you want to. It becomes difficult when you want to smoke but feel like you shouldnt.
