Is Scoobynet a closed society?
From the outset let me say that I have, on occasions, been thoroughly entertained by some of the threads on Scoobynet but....
and I know this may be being contentious, but I think Scoobynet is somewhat a closed society.
What I mean by that statement is that a select few control the popularity or otherwise of threads posted here. More so, and more importantly, the same 'elite' may even sterilise or censure threads by not giving threads or posts their 'grace' by partaking in said 'conversations'.
Threads that are initially popular are often scythed by 'the elite' either directly (by dismissive arrogant language) or indirectly (by none affiliation). The 'masses' follow suit in either condemnation or disinterest.
On the other hand, or conversely, posts either 'by' the select few or more rarely 'supported' by the select few are decended on by the masses showing positive or negative attitudes dependant on the mood set by those who hold sway.
Before some mount their somewhat tall horses, we have all seen the threads which contain language like 'can't wait until xxxxxx sees this' or 'what does xxxxxx think'.
Of course technical subjects require technical expertise and where required is of benefit. Less technical issues would benefit from full participation without deference.
You may attest that 'No ****** Tells Me What To Say' but I contend that you may have already been roughly cajoled into what not to say.
Keep up the entertainment but don't let demigods roam without challenge

Wow I'd never read that much in to it or noticed these "demi-gods" who can either popularise or kill a thread with a few choice words
Any thread by PSL is open to full abuse though
P.S. Please come back to technical Greasemonkey, all is forgiven

Interesting concept. However, although a lot of the board members know each other, i find that the number of replies and their content is directly proportional to the quality of the original post.

The original point is undoubtedly valid. Some threads i make a point of reading just if i happen to see certain members have contributed. Human nature.

LOL
I'll agree it seems that way.
And there are none worse than the pathetic few pedantic ones who appear from time to time to criticise grammer and spelling.
But I think its fair to say its no where near as bad as it seems.

(and only too happy to challenge any of these "demi-gods" (half witts?) )

I think you are letting your imagination rule somewhat. Of course some threads will take a certain amount of priority because the man who started it may have earned a reputation for being either more likely to raise people's interest or to be more contentious and therefore entertaining.
Generally most will take a look at all threads and comment if they want to. I doubt that many feel they have to agree with what they think is the correct thing for popularity's sake.
There are some who feel they have to be insulting to those they disagree with of course but that weakens their argument anyway.
If we all agreed with each other in every aspect there would be nothing much to post about! That would be very boring and Scoobynet is anything but that.

Coolangatta, its like a pub,you have the regulars, the pub joker, the bore and the newcomers. As for ignoring threads, you often get the same question asked a million times and if someone cant be bothered to search, why should others take time to answer.
Also, like pub life,if you get 10 bits of advice,8 will comes from people who "think" they know what they are talking about, and 2 from people that "do" know what they are talking about.
