DTS/DD Question
Morning all,
Here's a question for you.
Got a Powerbook G4 laptop, it's DVD drive is region free, which is nice, so I can hook it up to my TV and view R2 dvds, lovely.
Now, sound, here's the question. I don't have an optical out on the PB, just got a headphone socket.
I am guessing that I won't be able to listen to DD/DTS tracks when playing the dvd's from the PB?
I've not messed around with my amp yet (supports DD/DTS decoding), thought I'd ask on here first.
So, is my thought correct, no DD/DTS?

Long shot, you may be able to get something to plug into USB to give 5.1 output.
In fact just had a quick look at the Creative web site, they do USB and PC card soundblasters with multi-channel ouput, presumably with an optical or coaxial digital output.

Thought as much. As it stands I don't have any region 2 DVD's at the moment. Have been looking at some dvd players though, and a couple can be hacked, plus support dvix, so I might consider one.
Not sure it is really worth it though. It's really only Brit shows that I want R2 for, as we get most movies on DVD before the R2 release.
Hmm.
