Info about Leatherman tools req'd
Before I go off half cocked on a rant fest at the supplier.. (thesharperedge.co.uk)
Purchased the "Supertool 200" as advertised (it's the ONLY one they advertise)
Had it giftwrapped for a mate for Christmas..
He opened and I noticed (old dated box) that it looked diffent to that advertised.
I checked the receipt and it said PST II.
( I assumed originally that the "ST" part stood for Super Tool and the "II" for 200)
well I checked the Leatherman.com website (stateside) to find there is a model PST II and it's labed on their website as "Retired tools"
I mailed Leatherman themselves to see what sort of difference in price/how old is the PST etc,
I got a read receipt on the week off over Crimbo but as yet no reply (probably thinking "should have bought it from us then")
Problem is, I can see the sharperedge have a few ways out of this,
their clauses...
Once 'unwanted' goods are received, the consumer has a 7 working day cancellation period. The consumers right to reject starts from the day the contract is made, and ends on the expiry of 7 working days starting from the day after the goods have been received by the consumer.
The goods must be unused, boxed, in original condition and with your "The Sharper Edge" receipt, and must be received back within 14 days from the date of invoice.
The last one the more worrying.
If the goods are no longer made then we will replace it with goods of equal value after consultation. Occasionally, the product you receive will be slightly different to that pictured. We reserve the right to change products slightly from those pictured.
Being as i have yet to get a reply from leatherman, does anyone know what the cost of the PST II was when available.
(I paid £59.00) for what I thought was a Supertool 200....
Any advise on the shops tactics also appreciated.

from memory, was the PST the one based on fishing, with wire crimpers/cutters etc? It looked like a good pice of kit, hate to say it, but it sounds like you might not have looked into the model range enough.
anyway, its only 60 quid, wanna swap for a 2nd hand Wave?

The blurb on the Supertool.. (from Leatherman)

The "Retired" PST II

Yep your right Mj, just had a look at the blurb on the PST II and it is fishing oriantated. (my mate doesn't go fishing )
The bit on the supertool 200 about being " The Super Tool 200 is the biggest, strongest tool we make; it is ideal for professional users
Sold it to me straight away. (mate is a bit ham fisted at times)

I'll have a delve for you
For you though, the Sale of Goods Act says:
I don't believe the sellers T&Cs can replace "must be as described". Have you got an e-mail order confirmation or something that specifically states SuperTool 200?
For you though, the Sale of Goods Act says:
Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).

My reciepts and e-mail confirmations all say PST II :/
But then I have taken a screen grab and printed off the page showing specifiaclly a Supertool 200, which is what I clicked on and added to my basket, (just in case they remove or change the page )
Does it matter if the reciept says steaming pile of doo or Super tool ? as long as I get what I looked at and clicked on..
Result from Leatherman just now after I just sent tham another e-mail.
They state the PST II is not a replacment /superceded item from the Supertool range.
So hopefully they cant sting me with "it's the updated model sir"
