This is why you should listen to your teachers at school!
"However, on Maikhao beach in Thailand, a 10 year old British girl, Tilly Smith, recognised the signs when the tide rushed out and boats on the horizon began bobbing violently. She told her mother she had just been studying tsunami in geography at school and that they should leave the beach. Her parents warned others on the beach and so this was one of the few areas where no-one was reported killed or seriously injured "

I read about that in the SMH!!!!! I wouldn't have remembered clearly why I would have been worried about that kind of thing happening with the ocean, she ought to be recognised for that. As I am sure she would be told at school....top marks!!!

Only ones I can find is from the Sun, but no reason to think it's not genuine, certainly in this particular case.

Well done that girl.

PS. Those photos above are terrifying. Shows that it wasn't just towns of tin shacks that led to the catastrophic loss of life.

I found that story here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_In...ean_earthquake , but it's mainly an informational site about the earthquake itself. It is very interesting though. Has links at the bottom to toher sites

If someone said to me there's a Tsunami coming I'd be more likely to go to the beach out of curiosity...
