Walked out of the cinema after 45 minutes back when it was on. Undoubtedly the worst 'comedy' I have ever seen... Just not funny... I like surrealism, irony, dry humour etc which this seemed to want to excel in and it didnt... Utter tripe...

i think its a bit like the Office, no one apart from a minority really liked it, everyone else just wanted to be cool and pretended it was funny to them

I thought it was excellent, obviously different humor appeals to different people. Saying that I also loved Naked Gun and Hotshots, so Im surprised you liked those and not SotD.

My fave stand ups are Bill Bailey and Ross Noble, I love the Abraham Zucker films etc etc... But SotD was a parody of a zombie flick which didnt work because zombie flicks are themselves parodies... So if you like it would be like watching a p155 take version of Naked Gun... Well errr how could that work?
We are all different though and comedy works on that premise as do many other things in life (evo's are rubbish)... But the hype that SotD got because it was Bwitish suggested it would be multi appealing and funny to almost all.
It wasnt.

I didnt mind it either.
However when you watch a classic like Airplane! you realise its nothing special
'Nervous?'
'Yes'
'First time?'
'No, ive been nervous lots of times'
Absolute genius.

Sums up my feelings about it having watched it just last night. So-so entertainment that I wouldn't go too far out of my way for. There were a couple of moments which made me chuckle but nothing to make me laugh out loud unfortunately.

Jesus was Shaun of the Dead meant to be a comedy!!
I saw this on DVD borrowed from a mate a while back and just watched it as a British (i.e. LOW LOW budget) Horror.
I really thought it was meant to be a hammer horror type film - with that fat bloke from Combat put in for a bit of satire.

Saw it, didn't rate it.
Watched SOTD and Football Factory back to back and FF was a much more "enjoyable" film, as far as a film like that can be. I don't suppose the subject matter is to everybody's taste but it's well worth a watch.

It wasn't ever meant to be a spoof. A spoof is something in the mould of those mentioned earlier, Naked Gun, Airplane, HotShots.. This was something else. A zombie (don't use the z word...) movie with typically british characters. Everyone knows people like the characters in SotD, who knows a police detective like Frank Drebben? Come on guys, anyone who thinks those films are from the same genre probably prefers Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em to The Office. Nothing wrong with that but you'd hardly compare the two.
All IMO of course.
Happy new year all btw.. First post since
