What films would you recomend...
as being worth while to hire from Blockbuster for a nights viewing? As the cinemas arn't open tonight and pubs are over priced mainly ticket only and full of smoke and beered up thugs me and the Mrs are staying in.
So we need a list of films to choose from that you would recomend so we don't go and hire a load of crap.
So far the two we have both said we want to see are I-Robot and Troy. What else have been big hits this year at the cinema?
TIA

Thanks chaps, looks like I-Robot, Shrek 2 and Collateral if its out or failing that Last Samurai as Mrs says Aston Kutcher is a ponce so rules out the Butterfly Effect lol
Dazza I wanted to see Training Day the other night as it was on BBC1 but didn't appeal to the Mrs so missed it

I thought he was a ponce myself, still a good film though.
is this film for you both to be entertained, or a tom cruise drool fest for the misuss?

Well for both of us lol, to be honest I now like Tom Cruise films now he has grown up and not some twenty something babe magnet anymore, my favourite film of his being The Firm with Gene Hackman The Last Samurai will be good as long as there is plenty of violence in it and not all mushy love story

B2Z,
I was not looking forward to The Last Samurai for just the reasons you mention, but I was pleasantly surprised - it's a lot better than it sounds if you know what I mean.
tiggers.

Last Samurai - very, very good if you ignore the basic premise that there is a X-thousand-year tradition of Japanese warriors and luckily it's an American that saves them all . I was on the edge of my seat for the ninja vs samurai CQB, that was fantastic.
Collateral - haven't seen it, really want to.
Troy supposed to be a let-down but never seen it.
Training Day also very good IMHO.

i only bought 2 dvds this year.Last Samuri and Spiderman2.the 2 best films of the year.
butterfly effect is okay, but its not a blockbuster in that sense,Troy war fair, but Bradd Pitts a bit wooden.collateral is so-so,i-robot the sort of sc-fi film thats been done before, didnt inpire me.
it depends on what you like, normally i like some action, and a good story.

sorry to be a kill joy say Collateral by mistake, wished I had seen something else, very slow, major film trying to be an art house film, i.e high shots os sky line with cars in distance, not adding to story or plot
Sorry
I-robot great easy to watch film

Last Samurai was very good, surprisingly so and was one of my favourites of the year. Troy was also pretty good better in places not quite as in others.
iRobot again was surpirsingly good and I'd definitely agree that the Butterfly Effect was excellent !
I would also suggest you consider the following recentish films that should be a Blockbuster.
PayCheck - excellent plot , great effects and Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman really do a good job on this excellent film.
The Locals - Excellent low budget New Zealand film which everyone I have told about it who has seen has raved about.
