try the apple store, they are charging the full retail but usually seem to have stock as i think they keep a few for "themselves."

Can't be sure about the mini but know that they had all the full sized iPods available in 24 hours in the week up to Xmas when everyone else was sold out.

if you go to the bottom of the Apple store page you can select your country. However, it isn't dead clear as it is right at the bottom of the page from what I recall and so usually in the bit that no one scrolls down to.

Once you do that it should all work by magic!

I bought an iPod a couple of weeks ago from the Apple store (UK). They're ok, be just be prepared for their delivery being a bit crap. I got an email saying mine had been shipped and would be with me in 2 to 3 working days. A week later it hadn't arrived so i called to complain, Apple basically fobbed me off and then after phoning round various different couriers who were handling it - i found my iPod had been sat in my local courier depot for the last 4 days. It was only a mile away!

When i finally tracked it down the girl was very helpful "we can deliver it next week if you like?", I went and collected it instead and explained that it should've been delivered days ago. As she told me, they only deliver as per Apples instructions, which seem to be "deliver it whenever" as opposed to the promised "2 to 3 working days".

I didn't mind too much as i still had just enough time to charge it and download all my music to it before going on holiday.

Question is it me or are you mental???

Why do people buy the Mini's when you can get 10x the storage for about Ł30????

More like 5x more.

mini 4gb - Ł179

20gb - Ł219

40gb - Ł299

Prices taken from Apple but not necessarily the cheapest.

It's knowing where to stop if you have to.

You could say why buy 20gb at Ł219 when you could get double the storage for only Ł80 more I guess.

I geuss people who want mini, are paying for the size as a premium aswell.
Or maybe they jsut dont see themselves having more than 5gigs of music.

Reg has hit it on the head for me, I am going for the mini mainly due to the size, will be ideal for the gym whereas the std size ipod is a little bulky for my liking.

I rekon I'd be lucky to have 1gb of music, let alone 5 so storage wasnt really a consideration

Unless you're prepared for the hit and miss annoying shít that itunes throws at you and the stealth mode in which your ipod sometimes acquires when connecting it to the usb port, then I'd save your money.

I use firewire, and not had a problem to date.
Formatted and put 9.97 gigs on it the other day,in one go, and not a problem.
