Digital Cameras in the sales

Well, for £489 you could have the best digital camera at under £1000!!
Canon 300D - buy for £589 (or cheaper) AND get a 256mB CF Card from canon PLUS a cheque for £100 ................ you simply cannot lose.

Pete's almost right - but for about £300 your best bet really is a second hand Canon D30 off Ebay.
I've never really been of the impression that electronics are particularly good value in the sales - I can't believe that you can ever do much better than you can by shopping around online. What you might manage, is to get the same deal from a retailer that you might have otherwise had to do mail order.
That said, I did get my EOS 33 with 28-90mm lens from Dixons of all places - it was cheapest.

I suggest a more compact camera for 300quid, Canon IXUS 500 with a bigger SD card can be got for under 300quid new online.
Ive been thinking of a new digi cam myself, but havent seen anything amazing offers really.

A simple digicam will be thrown in the bin - lenses and all.
At £489 it really is rather a no-brainer for the Canon 300D - of course Canon are known for having the best lenses (and you can take advantage of these as and when you like)
