Dizzee Rascal - say what?
Just flicking through the channels trying to find something to kill some time and I found a song called stand up tall by the above mentioned chap. Now maybe Im just not gangster enough but I could not understand one single word he said
If anybody gets chance to have a listen to this one please do its a surreal experience - there are definately words there they're just impossible to make out

He's a ***.

I'm 24 and I quite like a bit of the old hippety hoppety, I know my RZA from my Skinny Man, but Dizzee is -on the most part- a complete fcuktard. Track one on the Showtime album is acceptable though, and that's a skit.

I'm 22 and thought he was a *** within about 5 seconds of the track being on. Obviously lived a sheltered life and not spent enough time around verbally incontinent gangster rappers

Having read the comments here, guess the people who voted him the 2003 Mercury Music Prize winning artist must be kicking themselves now, being that he's sooooo rubbish?!
You expert music critics! Maybe the mercury proze will be replaced by the scoobynet music prize, as we have so many top critics here.

Funny I thought the same how the f**k did he win that prize? Absolutely talentless rapper sounds $hit, does $hit songs because he is $hit!
O and BTW if you want to check out some truly entertaining rap you gotta go and buy Goldie Lookin Chain's album absolute pure class and very very funny lyrics (you f**king knows it! )

Personally, I don't how many other Norf Lundoners have made 'it big' here in the UK and across the pond, but he must be doing something right.
We quite like him
Also what's wrong with 'singing' about personal experiences and sending out
positive messages to the yoof of today? (at least thats what the the few tracks I have heard appear to be)
To all the young girls cotchin in the stairs in the flats,
to the superstar soccerlin's, Beckham in the making,
you can go far if u put your mind to it, your a star,
dont wait to be told 'just do it',
try to keep school in your plans dont worry bout your mans,
they'll be there in the end if they're real,
if they aint dont be making no effort to impress,
cos you'll find the way you are, just do what you feel,
young baby mothers yo i got your back as well,
young baby fathers hold it down for your girl,
i aint tryin to preach but for what its worth,
this is the next generation planet earth,
big shout to the world cos i been all around,
and when im gone im always thinking of my home town,
im from the LDN no forgetting that,
and the big UK i stay reppin that
<Flame suit on>

not a fan myself
but stand up tall is the most listenable of his stuff
Played it last night actually (the nearer gigs are to london, the more garage stuff they like) and it goes down quite well with that type of crowd

I sit in my traffic jam and if it comes on, then I will sit and marvel at the fact he got a record deal.. Cant believe the way he talks/speaks/'raps'.... Totally in-comprehensible!! (sp?)
Cheers,
Grant
