Two for the price of one?

Surely, if the points were "seconds apart" wouldn't it be impossible to miss the second camera giving you points, as its hard to slow down that fast. Thus proving its a fund raising scheme more than safety.

I particularly liked "Steve Callaghan, of the Cumbria Safety Camera Partnership, said the scheme was not designed to "set traps". " What exactly is it designed to do then??

Complete w@nkers.
When will these people learn that these vans etc pose more of a hazard that what they prevent. Wonder how many accidents are caused by people looking for these traps rather than other traffic etc. I have a better idea to reduce traffic accidents, ban cars totally and let everybody walk everywhere. Feckin nanny state, where will it end, a bloke with a red flag walking in front of the car like 100 years ago?

well if you get caught speeding through 1 if you get caught by another seconds later you've obviously not learnt your lesson and deserved to be caught again

What this proves is that speed cameras do not work!
The intention is slow the traffic and they don;t do it, if they did then they wouldn;t need two close to each other!

People that "worry" about speed camss do so as they speed often and they know it.
I have had points before. I accepted them because I was going faster than a "limit". The limit is then MAXIMUM, not a suggested speed. As such, my points have made me slow down and I have learnt my lesson.
My only problem with cameras is ill advised positioning.

It was Jim Davidson who received two speeding tickets about 30 minutes apart and claimed he hadn't slowed down, so they were prosecuting him twice for the same offence
Can't be done !
Can't be done !

That's a valid point and potential loophole.
To summarize, it's better to keep your speed up than slow down and speed up again.
If his speed was consistent it means he broke the law "once">
However - if this is not the case, they could have 10 camers on a 1 mile strip and people could get 800 points within 50 seconds!!!!!
Woooooaaaawwoooooaaaooohhh!!!!
