Need some help boys.......
I know there has been a thread about this some time ago but i need some help finding my boyf's christmas present. He's mentioned a couple of times that those nitro r/c cars look like they'd be fun so i think i might get him one. Trouble is me being a girl i'm not sure what to get and what i need - help please from those that can.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Kyosho sell pre-built r/c cars which are very good and a reasonable price. Tamiya also sell pre-built r/c cars but are more expensive.
I would suggest you get one with shaft drive if you get a 4-wheel-drive one as the maintenance is much reduced on them when compared to belt driven variants.
1:10 scale is the most common size.
For a decent one with handset, fuel, fuel filler bottle, glow-starter, charger and a full set of AA batteries (12 usually) you will need to spend about £300 - £400.
Make sure he sticks to the running-in instructions as new engines need a bit of TLC when they are new otherwise they wont last long.
If your anywhere near Woking, Surrey, I would recommend Woking Models and try to speak to Allan (the owner) he is very helpfull and will sort you out with everything you will need.

nitro cars are good fun, but they can be alot of hassle to get the best from them.
If he has never had an RC car maybe get him a get him a decent electric buggy, he can use it on or off road and see how he goes on.

nitro cars are mans toys electric ones are for kids
Seriously though, with a nitro car you cant just take it for a spin and then put it back in the box until the next time. They should be cleaned and lubricated after every session before being stored. I managed to miss a tiny little pice of gravel which eventually wore the teeth on the belt drive cog which now needs replacing
Electric ones are much easier to live with but just arent the same as nitro.
WORD OF WARNING, DONT GET NITRO FUEL ON YOUR HANDS IF YOU HAVE A CUT!!! IT STINGS LIKE HELL.

if i had a pound for every pound i've spent on nitro models, i'd have twice as much as i've spent on them.
expect heavy running costs, particularly if you have an affection for kerbs and lamp-posts!!!
they are hobbies, deffo not toys!
-oh and your b/f will need loads of patience!!
good luck.

Hmmm begining to think maybe not a nitro one then, he's not known for his patience! Mind you saying that he's so bl**dy obsessed with cleaning his scoob maybe he'll carry that over to his new toy!
Ok so if not one of these what would be a good present for a man who has everything ?!?

By far one of the best surprise presents I have ever had! Absolutely great fun, just make sure you don't drive as they like to cook with wine, they even put some of it in the food

coopz,
if you do want to get him a r/c car, try as sugested a Kyosho Alpha 3rd series.
they do a nice scooby, and the whole kit can be had for about £220.00 inc.
here http://www.alansmodels.com/cars/cari_alpha_3rd_ed.htm
these come ready to run (no buliding required)

I found a top electric aeroplane on iwantoneofthose, its called fighterbird its supposed to be easy to fly but the best bit, it has a sonic module on the bottom and if you have one or more planes you can dog fight, if you manage to get behind the other plane you can "shoot" it down as the sonic control cuts their engine off for 10 seconds! Brilliant, they even sell new bits for when you **** it into the ground at 500mph (scale speed!!) they are about £80 each! I have two plus some broken bits!!
