Default jehova witnesses (sp)

i thought they had stopped doorknocking these days but was horrified to find them on my doorstep on saturday morning.
they cam a bit mob handed (father mum, and what looked like a brother and sister)
I'd have given the bird one, but didn't really care to invite them all in.

what do they want to achieve?
a free cup of tea or something.

i told them i was late for my blood doning appointment, which seemed to have the desired effect of scattering them quickly.

i bet a lot of them get threatened and punched on the hooter.

any JW's on here care to comment??

If they knock on my door I point them to the recyle bin in the front garden and tell 'em they can leave their magazine in there, if they want.

I work with some, and they are the nicest people you could meet. Always well dressed, good workers and articulate.

I don't share some of there veiws, but they have very good family values that we could all learn from.

I've got good family values (sort of ), but I don't feel the need to bang on strangers' doors and tell them about it.

I got accosted by a couple of 'christian' religous folk on saturday whilst washing the scoob. I had nowhere to go, so we had a 20 minute debate on the theory of evoloution vs the bible, very amicable ladies.

My record stands at about 1.5 hours for a doorstep argument... I was bored and a little drunk.

Needless to say they left with their "faith" looking a little worse for wear!

yea what do they have to say in reply to the theory of evolution and science. thats the technical reality to everything. all youve got to do is come back at them with this argument and itll confuse 'em.

You mean values like letting a loved one die rather than having an operation that would require a transfusion? Yes we could all learn from that- learn to avoid stupid religions.I suppose it's a "Darwin awards" type thing, let the ******* wipe themselves out with moronic beliefs. Jobs a good 'un.

Hitler was well dressed and articulate with good family values, as were/are David Koresh and Dr Harold Shipman. Bet they were all great workers as well.

They will tell you that blood transfusion are very rare nowadays and there are plenty of things medical people can do before having a blood transfusion.

I've listened to them before and 'much' of what they say is just basic family values with good morals.

its easy to knock that which is different.
its harder to make the effort to understand.

I guess they see it as your loss when judgement day comes upon us.

not JW but can see both good and bad (as with most/all organised religion)

It is part of their religion to spread the word. They live good lives and are entitled to believe their own religious teachings without unnecessary criticism.

When they do knock on the door they do not insist on your attention and if you let them know that you are not interested I have always found them polite and they will not persist if you do not want them to.

Doesn't hurt to show the same sort of good manners that they do to others.

"All I said was, that piece of Halibut was good enough for Jehova."

"You'll only make it worse."

"How could it be worse? Jehovah, Jehova, Jehova!"

I don't consider it good manners to go round knocking on people's doors trying to change their belief system. I consider that bad manners. Would you be so happy if it was the local satanist group knocking on your door?

I think the Google-advertised site that I am getting could become the new Russian bride...

www.jwconnections.com

I used to work with one as well, and he had one of the nicest personalities of anyone i have ever met.

I agree with what some people say that they try at times to force there opnion and views onto people.

I'm not bothered what religion people are as long as they don't try to force there will on people either by badgering them constantly or making violant actions.

I had a massive crush in college on this girl and folk used to warn me off because her parents were jehova folk... Didnt bother me one bit...
On the other hand anyone knocking on a door who is trying to "sell" something is bang out of order - dragging little children round so you feel less likely to be smacked or told to 'f' off...shameful...
A few weeks ago we had to young mormons with dodgy american accents knock on - elder thingy and elder wotsit...Looking for more softheads to volunteer a proportion of theior salary to help build more nuclear bunkers under their churches...

Just have a 'Give Blood' sticker in the window. You help a good cause (ie the Transfusion Service) and they won't even come close to the house

I've come across them in work occasionally and their refusal of blood products can be incredibly frustrating. According to the papers today though there are approximately 10xs more Jedi Knights than Jehovah's witnesses according to the 2001 census

I was doing something rather norty and defo illegal by the side of my house.

Nothing sexual, before your minds start wandering.......

I was at the point of no return, when two well dress men walked towards me, white shirts, dark ties, black pants.....**** I thought, caught 'RED' handed, I was just about to say fair cop, when one of the gentlemen asked if I would like to read a 'watchtower' book.

Relieved is an understatement, this was the only time I was happy to see a JW spreading the word.

By the way, there is a clue in the script as to what I was doing....
