Survey of sorts ne mail / web order.
Before I start, this isn't related to my Amtrak issues of late. This more to do with items being packed in time on the day you order.
If you ordered an item from a company, and paid for 'next day delivery'..
Would you expect it the next day?
ie the items to be packed and in the post that day.

Yes. I would expect to have the item the next day, (unless the company stated orders must be before, say, 4pm and I missed the deadline).
I recently ordered an external DVD writer and paid for next day delivery. The drive was delivered the next working day, but without a UK power cable. I complained and they sent me a power cable out, but it took 2 further days before I could use the drive. I am now asking for a refund of the difference between what I paid for next day delivery and what 3 day delivery would have cost me, and I won't let up until I get it, on principle.

TK - Don't blame you. Hope you are well by the way.
I'm just trying to work out if I'm being unreasonable.
I know if I order from certain e-tailors I will get the item next day, even if ordered up to 4pm ish.
But of late, the main supplier I use is just being very sloppy about shipment, and the Amtrak experience hasn't helped (1 week late).

next day delivery - I'd expect next WORKING day - IE mon-fri
It'd be a higher surcharge for NEXT DAY + SATURDAY
Even higher for NEXT DAY + Saturday + pre 10am

I would expect it next working day, assuming I have placed the order within their time deadline and assuming the item is in stock. If not in stock I would expect to be informed of the delay.

I've finally decided just to stop using them after they completely ignored me when I had a problem with a delivery.
Ah well.
