Bringing back a multitool from the US
Would you consider it a risk to try and bring back 2 leathermans in my suitcase when I come back from Florida in Janurary?
What are the odds of being caught. I'm not worried about the duty charges, import charges etc. I must don't want to end up getting my knuckles wrapped for trying to bring knifes back into the UK. I don't think they would be very happy, understandly.
I only want 2 of the middle range ones as they are lots cheaper over there.
Would you do it? I have no intention of bringing them back in my hand luggage!!

As long as they aren't in your hand luggage then there's no problem.....Speaking as a person who has now lost two keyring Swiss Army knives due to forgetting to remove them before check-in......

Agree with the other replies. I've carted my Leatherman Wave from the UK to Oz on 12 flights. No probs so long as it's in the hold luggage. Had my hand luggage searched 3 times in 4 flights tho' because of a battery charger

My Leatherman was always carried as part of my 'tool kit' when I was working around Europe. I used to carry it in my hand luggage (a few years back) - never even got stopped. Don't think I would do that now! In your hold luggage should be fine.

I have flown from LHR - Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Paderborn a few times in the last 6 months, each time with wire cutters, cable ties and that sort of stuff in my laptop bag and not once have they even batted an eyelid......

I flew from London to Toronto with a bayonet in my hold luggage. As I didn't get stopped by customs, I can't say if it was acceptable.
I did get a pair of tweezers in a First Aid kit confiscated by the RAF a couple of years ago. Seemed a bit of a joke, 300 squaddies and a hold full of automatic assault rifles and they were worried about some tweezers. About the only danger they may represent is people dying of laughter when a potential terrorist says "Don't move or I pluck!".
On the same flight I had a selection of pens which could arguably be more dangerous than a set of tweezers.

Alright
My mate brought a Leatherman back from florida in his suitcase, and i bought a normal knife, No probs mate, just don't put them in your hand luggage. The US are VERY harsh about customs at the moment, so no silly jokes either! Ive heard some harsh stories about people being silly.....they don't find humour funny, espesially english!

Totally agree with that! the US Immigration service has no sense of humor at all, about anything. Obviously joking about being a terrorist is something only a thick chav would do, but even trying to make the gits smile is hard work.
As for bringing back leathermans, put it in your non carry on luggage and you'll be fine.
