Default Tear in Leather coat

The wife has just ripped a 10P size flap in her thin leather coat. Anyone know how best to fix it? ( and no I don't want to buy her a new one)

Cheers

Neil, get it done professionally. Most leather shops will have access to repairers. Alternatively, furniture retailers almost always have good contacts to leather repairers/restorers, if there aren't any in your area in the Yellow Pages. Don't be tempted to glue it yourself, it will never look right, whereas a prefessional should be able to make it all but invisible...

Cool, Thanks

BTW You just won me a bet with the wife. I told her you glue it, she said sew it. My reward is best left off this BBS

From what I understand the way to repair leather is to glue another piece of leather behind the tear using something like copydex. This should leave you with a repair which is almost imposible to see.

Just make sure you line up the edges of the tear so there is no gap between them.

Been there seen it done it. Unless it's in a place that will NEVER be noticed, don't be tempted to go the Copydex route. It always shows afterwards, and is not hard-wearing or long-lasting.
