Thought it was all 4 wheels on or off the ground was fine for towing, but having just 2 was a no,no, but I could be wrong. Be rather expensive if I am

Permenant 4x4 - can't have the fronts off the ground and not turning if the backs are on the ground and turning. Snapping sounds in the transfer box!!

Me too, but I'll retire and wait for somebody who has a clue about cars to advise

What about the tracker if its trailered - will the police be out looking for it or can I bypass that by leaving the ignition on?

hmm good question....no idea but the ignition idea sounds good enough. or u might be able to call the company and state the hours between which u do not want to be alerted of the cars movement. eg 10-2 on the day,

You can tow it on a tow rope though. Just don't use a tow truck.

Depends on the tracker. If it is a passive where you have to call to activate it such as the RAC one, then it won't matter. If it is active such as Dantrack then you just need to either disable it by turning the alarm off (zapper) or notifying them before you move it.
