They've got a long way to fall yet!
EVERYTHING seems to be getting cheaper??
I know Blair and Labour are superb at running the economy, but the price falls on most things are bewildering
Have we EVER had it so good????
Even if tax goes up by 50% - we will ALL still be better off than we were under the tories! Mad, but TRUE!
Blair for KING!

Everything technologically related always gets cheaper.
It's more interesting to look at fuel and more importantly food and see how much things have gone up.

It goes to show how much we were getting ripped off before, you say food is more expensive??? Poppycock!! A loaf of bread at 12p is NOT more than it was when war ended!

On a seperate note: why do some people seem to be obsessed with LCD televisions? They are completely inferior to gas plasma displays in every respect but every 'plasma' thread attracts someone advising 'wait until TFT screens get bigger and cheaper' or 'go for an LCD...' LCD televisions have an inferior picture and a ****-poor viewing angle; surely thats obvious when you look at them in the shop?
If you want a plasma display Id suggest looking at Richer Sounds before buying form Currys...

I'd only get a Pioneer or Panasonic tbh,and from John Lewis (price match) cos they offer a free 5 year warrenty (worth 599 at currys)
Personally i'd love a dedicated home theatre, just looking at the options,ie spare room or extension.

The 5 yr warrenty is 105,anywhere i can get it cheaper?
Agree about LCD's,dont like em meself, ghosting, pixels and poor contrast.

LCD screens are unwatchable when the picture moves quickly; gas plasma screens arent fantastic in this respect but then neither are a lot of CRTs. There is a trade-off bewtween size and picture quality and whilst Ive seen CRTs larger than 32" they havent been fantastic. When you consider that a good flat 32" 100Hz CRT will cost about £800 (the one exception Ive seen is a Toshiba at £575 (strangely as Tosh have the best screens)) and a reasonable 42" gas plasma screen can be had for £1100: I think I'll be going for the plasma every time. It big its flat; its smart and whilst the picture isnt quite as good as a nice CRT; I think that the extra image size makes up for it.

What I meant in THAT thread was that its FAR, FAR better to waste £1500 on a Plasma TV than to devalue your car by adding tacky modifications to it!
And I stand by that!

Pete, nice to see you're talking complete b*llocks as usual How exactly do you think the rate of change in price of imported, high technology products is related to Tony and his cronies?
I had a couple of hours to kill on Friday so I popped into Dixons and had a look at the (low end, obviously) LCD and plasma screens. All had w i d e viewing angles, and the LCD screens were far superior in terms of colour accuracy and shadow detail. Ever wondered why plasma screens are so often demo'd with CGI movies? There's no natural colours for reference. They're fine if you're easily swayed by a highly saturated image, but that's about it. LCDs, however, are definitely heading in the right direction.
Neither is, however, yet as good as the 32" CRT I bought nearly five years ago - but they're catching up fast. Put me down for a 50" LCD panel in 2007.

friend bought a 50" plasma pioneer tv at the weekend. it's HDTV - 7 billion colours (sky will be hdtv (optional) in jan 2006 IIRC). it has no viewing angle problems at all and is very bright.
4700 quid though...
